Job purpose
-
Working within Research & Strategy and in conjunction with other Sony teams, you will study current and emerging technologies working to develop innovative ideas and proposals to strengthen Sony’s EU Home Entertainment & Sound business.

Focusing on EU emerging technologies you will be working with partner companies and third parties to find collaborative solutions that will drive future consumer experiences and business opportunities.

Working within the team you will to prepare and validate reports and proposals that will help Sony form its mid-range planning and strategies.
-
Participation at industry events such as trade fairs, technology trials and standards bodies in support of the research and strategy teams objectives.
-
You will facilitate the European innovation project, arranging meetings, running ideation sessions, following up proposals, identifying candidate ideas for further development and report to management.
Key responsibilities

Responsible for running the Innovation project for Home Entertainment & Sound – Europe

Strongly contribute to Home Entertainment & Sound technical and strategic expertise and add input and value at all levels of the organization.

Technical comparison and evaluation of competing solutions whether from Industry bodies or from our competitors.

Working with our Partners and third parties to evaluate and demonstrate technologies
-
Will work in the Sony team at key events to demonstrate and promote our products and technologies.

Will attend industry groups and represent Sony’s position and directions?

Occasional European travel will be required (post-Covid)
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
-
Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering subject such as Electrical, Electronic, Software or Computer Science, Physics, Product Design or another area that can demonstrate understanding and knowledge within these topics.
-
Very Strong research and problem-solving skills coupled with a desire to innovate.
-
Interest in consumer electronics with an eye on emerging and disruptive technologies centered around home entertainment and related use cases.
-
Driven, with a willingness to learn – a flexible can do attitude is essential.
-
Project management skills – able to organise and drive project activities and clearly communicate progress to management.
-
Able to analyse complex information, identify key data and facts and work in a logical manner to achieve the intended result.

Able to communicate complex technical proposals clearly to multi-national internal and external audiences.
-
Be a team player with good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, who can facilitate clear and positive discussions with internal and external stakeholders

Not be afraid to speak out and challenge the status quo.

Have excellent attention to detail to ensure proposals are accurate and right first time

Able to work independently and where necessary think out of the box to achieve deadlines
Desirable

Experience of consumer electronics e.g. Television, Video, Audio and related technologies.

Experience of working with international standards bodies.

Knowledge of application environments such as Android and / or the HTML suite of web technologies

An understanding of the consumer electronics product development cycle, design rules and challenges

Skilled in the evaluation, testing, analysis and reporting in the technical areas above

Good commercial awareness.
