The Wesfarmers Advanced Analytics Centre (AAC) is looking for a passionate and detail-orientated data professional to work alongside our talented Data Scientists, Engineers and Analytics Leads. Working at one of Australia’s largest listed companies, this role will have a unique opportunity to partner with our iconic retail and industrials brands including Bunnings, Kmart, Catch, Target, Officeworks and Blackwoods.
The AAC plays a key role in the Wesfarmers’ Group data and digital strategy and works closely with our businesses to help deliver advanced analytics solutions to improve customer experience and business performance.
Based in Melbourne, this full-time role will help support database activities for the AAC including the design and configuration of various database solutions, including Snowflake.
Working as part of our advanced analytics team, your contributions will include:
- Lead the evaluation and design of database solutions to ensure they meet our data processing needs;
- Review new and existing database solution designs to ensure that they are continuously optimised for performance and scalability;
- Design and manage user roles and permissions for database solutions;
- Work closely with key stakeholders to deliver database requirements for advanced analytics use cases and strategic projects; and
- Provide technical database expertise to our businesses as required.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT, Computer Science or Software Engineering related field or equivalent experience;
- Experience working as a Database Administrator within a large, complex environment;
- Strong experience in SQL;
- Snowflake certifications is a plus;
- Experience in Snowflake, Graph Databases and wide columnar stores will be highly regarded;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities;
- Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills; and
- A genuine interest and passion to learn and develop new skills.
