Description
The Brand Team promote the UK Marketing business and drive value creation through data-driven brand marketing solutions utilizing consumer and customer segmentation, benchmarking, external market data and internal data from our company-owned retail sites.
The Business Analyst provides qualitative and quantitative data analysis of the UK Retail business, including our company-owned JET petrol filling stations, and communicates findings and trends in service of brand marketing and retail business activity to drive sales and create value.
Responsibilities May Include:
General
- Conducting a range of analysis on the current state of the UK Retail market and forecasting future market trends to analyze opportunities to develop the Retail business.
- Monitoring and analysing trade press and publicly available information, working closely with the Brand Team and Retail Sales to understand the market and trends.
- Planning, identifying, delivering and analyzing business results and developing competitor benchmarking reports.
- Preparing daily to monthly reports and monitoring various KPI’s to support Corporate planning.
Brand marketing and and providing management support
- Leading internal communication of brand initiatives and collating UK Marketing business updates to share with the UK businesses or with US management as appropriate.
- Supporting initiatives with market and data analysis, including campaign analysis, brand funnel analysis and market segmentation.
- Processing large volumes of data and carrying out analysis of the strategic competitive environment with the aim of developing recommendations for action for local management.
- Providing support to information gathering processes and developing presentation packages for internal/external communications as needed.
Supporting the wider Retail Business Group
- Analysing and understanding retail in-store sales and trends at forecourt convenience stores, turning data and consumer insights into compelling ideas which are actionable and relevant.
- Understanding the profitability of different offerings and identifying opportunities for improved retail profitability.
- Taking learnings from trials and tests to inform business strategy and support JET’s 300+ dealer sites to grow and develop for the future.
- Conducting a range of analysis on the current state of the UK Retail market, including market presence, pricing and consumer and dealer perceptions.
Position Requirements:
- Hold the legal right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis without restrictions, or meet the relevant criteria for employer sponsorship under the UK points-based immigration system.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a numerical or business discipline.
- Advanced Excel skills e.g. pivot tables, financial modelling.
- Intermediate level or higher in Data Analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx).
- Intermediate Word and PowerPoint skills for producing report and presentations.
- Strong business understanding (Margin vs EBITDA, fixed vs variable costs).
- Ability to work cross functionally and engage collaboratively with stakeholders across the business and externally.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent strategic, analytical, problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Proactive, reliable, team player with excellent attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of Brand Marketing and/or Retail businesses.
- Excellent organizational skills and proven project management experience.
Phillips 66 has significant marketing operations in Europe. In the UK the business is primarily wholesale, selling fuels to distributors (some of whom are branded JET) and resellers. The fuels are either collected by customers or delivered through a contracted road tanker fleet operating out of a number of UK distribution points. In addition, Phillips 66 Limited supplies a network of approximately 330 independently owned petrol forecourts, all of which are branded JET.
Other markets served are aviation, marine and LPG. JET supplies some of the UK’s growing secondary airports using owned and shared refueling tankers and storage, and delivers to airlines through contracted refueling operations. Marine markets are served using contracted vehicles, as is the LPG business.
