Audit Manager

Role Value Proposition: 

The role is an internal audit manager in MetLife’s Global Audit Operations (GAO) team. The Audit Manager will report to the Head of Global Audit Quality and Methodology and assist in implementing the strategic vision and direction of the Chief Auditor and Head of GAO. The Audit manager will have tactical and operational accountabilities for key activities within the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (Quality Program) and in meeting our internal audit (IA) charter.  The Audit Manager will also have responsibilities for developing and refining the audit methodology practices.

Key Responsibilities:  

Quality Program – perform complex quality reviews and raise practical recommendations for continuous improvements. Assess how the department is meeting IA standards and the required elements of the audit life cycle i.e. Audit Universe, Planning, Fieldwork, Reporting and Issue Monitoring).

Driving change through data analysis – this role will require strong analytical skills to interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide diagnosis of root causes and trends. The responsibilities will include providing proposed solutions, engaging and influencing key stakeholders and assist in implementing actions to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of the internal audit department.

Performance reporting – Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness and impact of key internal audit activities by liaising with key senior stakeholders, consolidating results and analytical information, and communicating lessons learned to the IA department.

Innovation and Thought Leadership – Drive innovation and optimization in our audit methodology and other audit practices by leveraging technology, capabilities, industry guidance (IIA best practices), and lean process techniques.

Essential Business Experience

  • 8+ years of auditing experience
  • Chartered auditor or accountant

 

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Able to evaluate the work of others with a critical, objective and practical point of view and assess sound professional judgment of audit professionals.
  • High quality standards with the ability to critique and challenge the status quo
  • Agile, adaptable, creative and have a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Solid relationship management skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present findings through visual aids / graphs and executive summaries

Preferred:

  • Insurance industry experience
  • Data analytics proficiency
  • Prior Audit Operations experience
  • International Standards of Auditing knowledge
