Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for the development and coaching of the site-based data (Zutec) with the digitation team. Required to evaluate and review materials in collaboration with the Material Team. Review Daily Reports from the independent site inspections and surveillances, ensuring the digitalised documentation is being produced on time, Non-Conformances are raised in a timely manner, reviewing documentation, and supporting the Quality Manager. Providing assurance to both the SCSJV Management and the Client that the Delivery Team and the supply chain are delivering the Works in accordance with the Works Information and the design requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Review competences, proactive in preventing substandard Works being produced by coaching and providing training.
Ensure that quality management is given the highest priority in delivery in the delivery of their works to achieve right first time.
Communicate with delivery team and sub-contractors to ensure full understanding of quality assurance requirements.
Check the works during progress and on completion to ensure that it has been constructed in line with the Work Information and the supporting documentation is produced.
Manage and communicate to the Quality Managers any non-conformances, assist the delivery team, in the process within Zutec.
Carry out formal surveillances to ensure that inspection and tests are carried out in line with the inspection and test plans
Ensure the delivery team notifies HS2 and or the Supervisor of any intervention points. (Zutec)
In addition to the above discipline role, the Quality Engineer must carry out his/her duties in accordance with the SCSJV Core Values. Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners’ Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes, and statutory requirements as they affect the company’s operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

Required Qualifications, Skills, Behaviours And Attributes.

  • Managed Quality on a relevant project
  • Experience within quality related role on a major infrastructure project (essential)
  • Passionate in working within Quality Management.
  • Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio).
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Training in Quality.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The combined value of the contracts is around £1.8billion with the works due for completion in 2025. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
