Data & Analytics Sr Analyst – Safety

Are you someone who enjoys working with data and leveraging technologies and data structures to develop reports and presentations? In this role you will work within the scope of occupational safety and be the primary point of contact for analytical and performance measurement data and for health & safety reporting.

What you will do:

  • On a reoccurring basis (e.g. monthly/quarterly/yearly) report on safety performance metrics and assess ongoing safety performance results to continually identify improvement opportunities and suggest corrective actions as required to achieve desired safety goals and objectives.

  • Building, maintaining, and updating external and internal partner scorecards, dashboards, reports, and presentations with trending and analytical comparisons. Crafting and integrating data, tables, graphs, and interpretive commentary. Communicating information both written and verbal (e.g. presentations) and relaying fact and analysis to varied levels of management and non-technical audiences.

  • Using practices related to data stewardship, data modelling, and data integrity, collecting, and managing safety data (incident data, hours, mileage, observations etc.) and ensure traceability and audit ability. Identifying, investigating and resolving quality issues found within data.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent field.

  • 2-5 or more years’ experience in a reporting and analytics capacity, and producing high-quality data driven deliverables. Experience in critical metric development, trending, and benchmarking.

  • Skilled in collecting, combining a redefining raw data from multiple sources (SQL database, SharePoint Libraries, excel/CSV files).

  • Strong skills in database querying with Power Query in Microsoft Excel/Power BI and data management applications. Knowledge and experience with business intelligence tools/relational database applications.

  • Proven track record to relay findings and trends through well written corporate messaging.

  • Effective communication and social skills. The ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.

Working Conditions:

  • Office based.

  • Periodic scheduled travel for meetings as required within Canada and the US.
