We are seeking a Chemical Engineer to join our team in Richmond, VA. You are responsible for providing chemical engineering expertise for established and new automated processing lines. You can expect to work as an integral part of the team.
Job Duties include:
• Ability to excel in a team environment with excellent communication and customer skills, while at the same time work technically independent
• Developing new processes for new products where no precedence exists
• Implementing new processes from concept to commercialization.
• Designing and conducting tests of equipment and review performance data to ultimately provide capability assessment.
• Providing problem solving support to maintenance staff to quickly diagnose equipment, controls, and processing issues
• Monitoring automated equipment, analyzing and initiating action based on data, and problem-solving activities to ensure reliability and conformity of equipment to quality system requirements
Background and Education:
• BS Chemical Engineering and a minimum of 3-7 years of relevant experience
• Strong background in Chemical Engineering and process theory. Working knowledge of unit operations and process fundamentals (including process controls).
• Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering Theory and deep understanding of transport phenomena, thermodynamics, unit operations, reaction and reaction kinetics
• Strong cause-effect analytical and troubleshooting abilities
• Process development and process design experience
• GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) processing / GMP requirements knowledge is preferred.
• Working knowledge of project management
• Primarily day shift however the incumbent will need to be flexible to provide support to other shifts as needed
• This position may involve some travel and extended time in manufacturing, pilot, and lab environments that require the use of PPE.
