The New York Post is seeking a Senior News Editor to help run our homepage and oversee digital content. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an iconic media brand as it continues to experience exponential growth online.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Post’s homepage, ensuring a balance of the most important, interesting and attention-grabbing stories of the moment
- Package homepage content with the best headlines and visuals to tell the story
- Use analytics-driven decision making
- Manage production and publishing of digital content
- Collaborate with reporters and editors across various editorial departments to package and optimize content for the web
- Oversee how breaking news is published and promoted across New York Post platforms
- Serve as a point person for digital best practices on the digital team and across departments
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience as an editor in an online news environment
- Superior editorial judgment and communication skills
- Proven ability to write pithy, web-friendly headlines
- Ability to leverage multimedia content to enhance stories and user experience
- Experience using social media to find and promote stories
- Familiarity with content management systems, photo editing software and web analytics tools
