POSITION OVERVIEW

This position will be part of the Policy, Government, and Public Affairs (PGPA) organization and provide support on sustainability, policy and advocacy matters to various Cheniere Energy, Inc. (Cheniere).  This position will be located in Houston, Texas and will report to the Director, Climate & Sustainability.

 

KNOWLEDGE

A successful candidate should have the following:

  • Deep understanding and or experience in the application of concepts on climate and sustainability, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) protocols, ratings, and framework.
  • Strong analytical experience on ESG metrics, ESG benchmarking, transitional and physical risk analysis
  • Ability to conduct independent ESG research and engage with investors, rating agencies, sustainability and policy leaders.
  • Experience working with senior management, and internal teams
  • Knowledge of natural gas value chain operations and markets.
  • Ability to represent Cheniere in public engagements.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Support the development of corporate sustainability policies and programs, including the leading segments of the Corporate Responsibility (CR) report, and other ESG reports.
  • Lead and/or support ESG research and analysis in support of our internal and external climate and sustainability policies and interactions with key stakeholders.
  • Lead and/or support engagement and feedback to ESG rating agencies
  • Support transitional and physical risk analysis, and other ESG considerations consistent with recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board)
  • Support CFO’s office on various initiatives such as UN Global Compact, CFO SDG Taskforce, and support Investor Relations, Corporate Finance, and Treasury departments on ESG engagements with investors and other entities, including the Equator Principles (EP) framework, guidelines for green bonds and social bonds, instruments such as sustainability-linked bonds or loans tied to corporate ESG performance.
  • Represent Cheniere at various external forums such as trade associations, conferences, workshops and other forums or organizations as directed by the Supervisor
  • Mentor and support team members

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability/environmental studies, environmental engineering or science with relevant coursework in climate science and policy, sustainability and data analysis or related field
  • Graduate degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in climate and sustainability areas  (w/ bachelor’s degree)
  • 3+ years of experience in climate and sustainability areas  (w/ master’s degree)
  • Experience in leading or supporting the development of corporate responsibility (CR) reports, including deep understanding of reporting frameworks including the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), IPIECA, and SASB standards, and TCFD framework
  • Experience working with and/or leading cross-functional teams in development of CR reports
  • Experience conducting transitional and physical risk analysis, establishing climate-related targets, and associated policies
  • Interpreting policies/guidelines and applying analytical acumen to climate and sustainability strategy/solutions
  • Prior experience working on ESG reports and various ESG rating entities

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • May be required to work over 40 hours per week.
  • Limited travel is required.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
