  • This job is a member of the Geopolitical and Security Risk Team within the Corporate Affairs Division
  • ​Responsible for work to ensure the safety and security of employees, corporate assets, and global daily operations; improving information flow within the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) and to other operational stakeholders

What you’ll do

  • Provides support to a variety of operational and other stakeholders by monitoring and assessing external threats and potential security risk to American Airlines from issues such as terrorism, civil unrest, violent crime, and organized crime
  • Assists in the research, drafting, and dissemination of assessments to internal and external stakeholders; monitors and assesses external threats for potential impact to American Airlines equities
  • Provides a physical, in-person security presence within the Integrated Operations Center (IOC), to allow greater proactive assessment and incident response support to IOC stakeholders
  • Develops products in support of AA’s travel security program, such as preparing travel security briefs and providing bespoke travel advice, as well as related tasks as appropriate
  • Supports AA’s emergency notification platform (Everbridge) in partnership with Emergency Planning and Response
  • Remains a point of contact for emergency notification processes and procedures
  • Conducts ad-hoc security briefings, and may perform station and site security assessments, to include supporting the hotel assessment process; drafts additional products as appropriate
  • Operates autonomously under minimal direct supervision
  • Travels, as required
  • Must be able to work occasional irregular schedules as dictated by events

All you’ll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; including military or intelligence experience

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Master’s degree in International Affairs or similar discipline
  • Prior experience in private sector security intelligence, security assessment and travel security
  • Prior Global Security Operations Center experience
  • Foreign language skills relevant to AA operations
  • Familiarity with aviation security policies, and procedures
  • Advanced writing skills
  • Active security clearance or abilty to obtain one

 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Firm understanding of security assessment and security risk, demonstrated by previous direct experience in private-sector intelligence analysis, travel security, or crisis management
  • Excellent communication skills, including a history of routinely briefing or writing security assessments for stakeholders
