Maintenance Manager

Basic Functions

 

  • Respect Amcor Rigid Plastics primary focus of ensuring the “Safety” of all employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Must follow Amcor’s policies and procedures to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP’s) are maintained as per company’s standards.
  • Manage all facets of the plant equipment, buildings and grounds upkeep
  • Responsible for compliance of all Federal/Provincial/Local regulations for the facility.
  • Responsible for defining problem areas, conducting investigations and implementing solutions.
  • Provide the level of leadership and direction to the maintenance group, ensuring optimum performance and output from the production equipment is maintained.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure that all maintenance personnel are properly trained and aware of potential safety and/or health risks. This includes compliance with Federal/Provincial/Local requirements and GMP.
  • Maintain maintenance manuals for all pieces of equipment and up-to-date electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Maintain current facility layout depicting machinery, equipment, systems, building and services, indicating locations of pipes, electrical services, and drainage systems.
  • Participate in the selection and placement of new and/or relocated equipment and systems, in conjunction with the Plant Engineer.
  • Responsible for the operations and maintenance of all plant systems such as compressed air, chillers, resin handling, HVAC systems, etc.
  • Seek bids on repair and maintenance work as required. Recommends contractors based on historical performance, cost, workmanship, and completion dates.
  • Obtain support from the Plant Engineer to establish priorities for the maintenance function and effective utilization of personnel and equipment.
  • Grow and strengthen the maintenance team.  Review current maintenance organizational structure vs. operational goals and recommend changes to the structure to support management business goals.
  • Accomplishes electrical maintenance human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing effective, world class P.M. program in compliance with written plans and procedures and in accordance with business needs.
  • Direct the repair, maintenance and modification of plant equipment, buildings and grounds.
  • Establish, maintain control, and storage of MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) spare parts with the support of the Storeroom Clerk.  Program to be put in place to ensure critical spares are available and stock is controlled, inventoried and maintained.
  • Submit reports to local, provincial, and federal agencies including permits relating to the installation of equipment and /or water and air discharges.
  • Recommend projects/programs that will improve efficiency and reduce costs, while improving quality and customer service to the Plant Engineer.
  • Monitor and controls maintenance budgets, in accordance with production forecasts and profit plans. Determines facility requirements in line with the profit plan and assists with capital planning forecasts.
  • Ensure that all outside contractors comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure availability of services commensurate with minimal service interruptions.
  • Additional responsibilities assigned and deemed required by the immediate supervisor.

 

Health and Safety Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

 

  • Follow all company safety policies and work instructions.
  • Member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Lead Champion for Energy Isolation.
  • Responsible for all Environmental, Waste and Recycling.
  • Bring to the attention of all the appropriate peoples any potential or actual dangers.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in one’s area of responsibility.

 

Education, Experience and skills required

 

  • Bachelor Degree in science/engineering is preferred
  • Five to ten years related experience or the combined equivalent
  • Experience in Blow moulding, Extrusion Blow moulding preferred.
  • Experience in Electrical engineering, maintenance, and equipment (PLC’s, robotics, circuits, electrical troubleshooting, etc) and the ability to read electrical schematics and programming for the purpose of equipment troubleshooting and repair is a required.
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to write reports, and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond in group environment.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics inference, and fundamentals of geometry, trigonometry, and statics.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Must possess and demonstrate all the necessary skills required for the position.
  • Manage people and resources effectively.
  • Proficient in the application of the English language.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
