Security Systems Technician – GMSC

General Purpose of Job/Summary:

The Security Systems Technician will be part of a team responsible for providing all levels of support on Access
Control System (ACS), Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), Visitor Management System (VMS), and building
infrastructure network across various client locations. With guidance from the Director of Technical Field Services,
the technician will monitor, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware and software related equipment’s that
support the backbone operation of the building infrastructure on-site or remotely. The technician will be challenged
with assisting the team in keeping all technology up to date and undertaking new projects to ensure building security.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist, support, and troubleshoot all aspects of the Access Control System, CCTV, and Visitor Management
    System
  • Performs turnstile troubleshooting for security and mechanical issues
  • Install/replace turnstile components and access control readers
  • Assist with programming and calibrating cameras
  • Rack mount and interconnect security and network equipment
  • Install and maintain Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS)
  • Participation in rollouts / upgrades / migrations
  • Transporting access control, CCTV, and network equipment to various locations throughout NYC
  • Knowledgeable in using the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices
  • Develop and assist in composing system documentation
  • Travel to various New York City properties required
  • Participate in rotating after-hour on call responsibility
  • Installation and maintenance of door (Mag lock, door strikes, crash bars, etc.)
  • Ability to terminate ethernet cables

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a professional manner as an extended representation of the team, exercising good
    judgement and the use of discretion as needed
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Ability to keep well organized documentation on completion forms, reports, logs, and records
  • Ability to be able to communicate with outside vendors, general contractors, upper-managers, and high-level
    executives
  • Self-motivated and driven to extend beyond work expectation/comfort-zone and drive to learn/gain new
    work experiences
  • Take control of a project and lead from start to end, making all necessary communication/coordination

Basic Hardware Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year working knowledge of an Access Control System (preferably S2/Lenel/AMAG)
  • Basic understanding of how to install, troubleshoot, and maintain Access Control, CCTV, and Network
    equipment’s
  • Ability to use power tools, get hands dirty, and climb to high places when needed
  • Ability to exercise OSHA regulation on the field
  • Familiar with mercury panels, programming, and wiring
  • Ability to do a full door installation (Maglock, Door Strikes, Crash bar, Cutouts, wiring, testing, Fire tie
    connection)
  • Basic understand of how a turnstile operates (Preferably DSI manufacture)

Basic Software Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year working knowledge of configuring computers, printers, phones, network switches, and other
    electronic peripherals
  • Working knowledge of how to operate within a Windows based environment (Windows 7, 10, Server 2016,
    Ubuntu/Linux is a Plus)
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, NAS, and programming scripts
  • Ability to extract small/large data from multiple databases to manipulate and produce vital reports

 

Education / Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years in a support related environment
  • Computer Electronic or Digital Electronics degree or Access Control certification not required but preferred:
    o OSHA 30 Certification
    o AXIS Certification
    o S2/Lenel Certification
    o Lift Certifications (Single or Boom)
    o Any CCTV Certification
