The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Process Control and Optimization Manager, the EMS OT Network Engineer provides technical support to mill Process Control Departments and other EMS functional groups as needed. This position provides technical support and supports capital projects in the 31 WestRock paper mills and 3 extrusion plants in the USA, Canada, Brazil and India. Travel is required.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Field incoming problems from end users to resolve hardware and software issues within servers, networks, and other mission-critical systems.
- Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
- Manage and/or assist in the deployment of new OT software, hardware, and infrastructure.
- Provide continuous monitoring of OT networks at WestRock’s 29 North American paper mills and 3 extrusion plants.
- Develop, execute, and assist in proactive maintenance on WestRock OT systems.
- Support of OT systems including networks, virtual systems, servers, switches, and associated hardware.
- Maintain system backups of hardware and software configuration of WestRock OT systems.
- Serve as primary liaison between the EMS E&C Group and Corporate IT and IT Security.
- Provide technical assistance to mills as requested.
- Facilitate the transfer of Best Practices/Technology between the mills.
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans. Support FEP-1, -2 & -3 development.
- Collaborate with engineering consultants, manufacturers and third-party integrators during conceptual design.
- Review project design drawings, specifications and other documents produced by engineering consultants, manufacturers, and third-party integrators to verify technical accuracy.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of DCS, QCS, PLC and other control systems.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or closely related degree is preferred. Compatible military experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 10+ years of OT Network engineering or related experience in an industrial environment.
- Experience in coordination and implementation with new and upgraded OT system installations/startups is required.
- Must have the ability to configure and maintain Cisco ASA and Firepower firewalls.
- Proficiency in managing Antivirus for large complex systems.
- Must have a strong technical understanding of both VMware ESXI and Hyper-V.
- OSI PI Administrator experience is recommended.
- Excellent problem-solving ability – Determining causes of operating errors, developing and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Strong leadership abilities including critical thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
