Design Engineer

Textron Full Time United States Engineering

Responsible for creating engine/component designs with regard to function, durability, manufacturability, material specifications, and analysis, in support of New Product Development and Sustaining Product initiatives. Emphasis on growth of analytical and CAE skills to become Subject Matter Expert and mentor.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to Director Product Management. Interfaces with internal Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Quality, and Customer Service Depts. May interface with suppliers and customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the technical and procedural aspect of engine/component designs from initial layout through final drawings.
Perform design analysis including calculations and CAE.
Provide design assistance and coordination for Product Development Cycle.
Contribute to development and on-time execution of Program Schedules
Investigate, determine failure mode and effects, and resolve design and specification issues from Discrepant Material Reports.
Create BOM’s; ECO’s for engine specs, process specs, and drawings.
Provide guidance to drafting/CAD operators.
Consult with suppliers/customers on designs and specifications.
Recommend Engineering changes and ensure timely and accurate preparation and implementation.

REQUIRED LICENCES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
Private Pilot’s license desirable.
