UK / IE Tax Advisor

Under the direct responsibility of the Head of Tax for Ferrovial UK & Ireland, the role covers a range of taxes and tasks including:

– Providing a full range of corporation tax services for the UK & Ireland group, including preparing in-house direct tax computations, providing quarterly instalment payment information to finance for all entities, ensuring all iXBRL tagging is completed and tax returns filed within the set deadlines, acting as coordinator for outsourced joint venture and Irish tax compliance, and liaising with both internal finance teams and external service providers as required.
– Preparation of tax disclosure notes for the financial statements including the Group consolidated accounts. Interaction with auditors during the preparation of the Group and single entities financial statements.
– Preparing year-end reporting figures for the UK and Ireland entities, including preparing a detailed memo setting out how the YE figures have been calculated and responding to all queries on the figures from both the auditors and the Group Tax Team.
– Preparation of VAT returns for certain entities in the UK and Ireland. Provision of assistance with indirect taxes including reviewing several VAT returns each quarter, responding to ad-hoc queries from the business and providing training to finance teams on legislation changes. This requires strong year end consolidated IFRS group tax reporting knowledge and awareness of accounting issues that will impact on tax.
– Control and administration of tax systems and SAP tax accounting. Identification and implementation of process improvements.
– Actively contribute to the SAO return procedures for the group, and assisting the Group tax team with the Total Tax Contribution and Country by Country Reporting requirements. Control and administration of tax processes and the tax calendar.
– Negotation and facilitation of R&D tax credits.
– Prepare and file Short Term Business Visitor reports for all divisions within the Group, as well as assisting with any employment tax queries that arise.
– Liaising with and handling queries from the business on tax aspects relating to potential deals/acquisitions.
– Ad-hoc planning work impacting on all areas of direct and indirect tax across a variety of infrastructure type entities, with a main focus on UK and Ireland.
– Working closely within a team and also able to work autonomously.
– Ability to solve problems and have good analytical skills.
– Adaptability to work with colleagues in other countries and manage tax administrative queries feeding in to overseas queries.

Functions description:
– Tax compliance: all taxes.
– Financial accounting: expertise on accounting rules and principles, advising on tax accounting entries.
– Collate information and preparation of tax returns and Group CIR, Group Relief, Tax losses utilisation, etc.
– Assisting in preparing internal tax impacts for group financial reporting.
– Assisting with the tax impact of ad hoc planning and business projects as required.

Skills & experience

• Bachelor in Business Administration, Economics or similar.
• ACA /CTA.
• Minimum of 6 years tax experience in top tax consultancy or multinational.
• Essential experience in preparation of single entity and consolidated tax reporting.
• Essential experience in the preparation of corporate income tax returns for entities and group calculations.
• Industry experience (in addition to professional services firm experience) is a benefit.
• IT Knoledge: Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), SAP, Alphatax.
• Languages: English. Spanish is a benefit.
