US Communications Coordinator

The role

The Ferrovial US Communications Team is looking for a dynamic content developer to support the team by producing creative internal, external and digital communications content across all of Ferrovial’s US business units: Cintra, Webber, Ferrovial Construction, Airports and Services. This position will support the communications organization with much needed content development for US business and people activities – primary through written communications, but visual communications skills are a definite plus for candidates, which includes graphic design, video editing and photography/videography. This role will support the US Communications, Media Relations and Branding Managers’ activities and needs while reporting to the Ferrovial US Communications Manager.

 

Key accountabilities

• Write creative and unique content as well as come up with innovative ideas and chasing down story leads. The content should be informative and engaging while enabling audiences to get their information promptly and efficiently.

• Content development for internal and external audiences will include: people feature stories, newsletters, internal corporate announcements, press releases and materials, intranet stories, blogs, bylined articles, thought leadership, project updates and company website content.

• Proofread content developed by other internal sources and re-purposing content for use across the organization’s multiple communications channels.

• Rewrite old content to give it a fresh touch. • Assist with the development of corporate audiovisual projects such as powerpoint presentations, photography and video creation.

• Ability to capture content with video, audio and photography equipment, as needed, with some limited digital editing of content is a strong advantage.

• Support internal and external events, including virtual events, trade shows and execution of webcast activities.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed in cross functional department, including but not limited to industry event and awards tracking/support and assisting with social media community management.

Education & Experience:

• Degree in Journalism/English, Communications, Public Relations or other relevant degree.

• Proven writer with excellent attention to detail.

• Five years of hands-on writing experience for internal/external communications and/or news writing.

• Writing samples (ex: press releases, articles, social posts) and portfolio of graphic work/photography/videos are requirements for the interview process.

 

Professional Qualities:

• Solid writing, storytelling and editing skills are must with excellent communications skills, close attention to detail and impeccable grammar skills.

• Strong listening and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of internal customers, from C-level executives to construction field crews.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment while meeting deadlines and working independently.

• Proficient in AP Style and committed to staying up to date with various methods to create engaging and attractive multi-platform content for internal and external audiences.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is a must.

• Experience in writing for construction, technology or other industrial-focused sectors is a plus.

• Candidates with experience with graphic and video editing software like Adobe creative suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro and InDesign are preferred. Additional software skills including Hootsuite, Agrorapulse, Clickup, Sharepoint and Word Press experience are a plus.
