As part of the Grid Integration Division, the High Voltage Engineering team delivers pre-construction engineering and construction/commissioning engineering for High Voltage facilities associated with renewable energy power plants. Voltage ranges from 35kV up to 500kV. We are currently looking for a dynamic and team oriented Electrical Studies Engineer. The Engineer for this position should enjoy versatility of technical tasks with a strong focus on understanding grid integration requirements for renewables and technical project management. This is a solid opportunity for an engineer that not only is proficient on the technical engineering aspects of the role but enjoys building and maintaining relationships with consultants, EPCs and Power Utilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and review electrical system studies such as load flow/reactive power, short circuit, grounding, insulation Coordination, arc-flash, and harmonics for renewable generating plants (Solar, Wind, BESS).

Build models in ETAP by using input information from the HV substation, Power Utility, and Power Plant design (Solar, Wind, BESS).

Provide technical reports outlining studies results and recommendations.

Create a standardization process to normalize power system studies results and documentation across different project types and external consultants.

Ensure studies and calculations are updated to keep consistency with project latest changes.

Review and lead technical discussions on power system studies to ensure grid compliance with the Interconnection Agreement, prudent industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC), and owner preferences.

Provide design review and advise on any issues that appear technically incorrect or inconsistent with project documentation.

Review of substation designs for compliance with interconnection agreement requirements and applicable reliability standards, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Power Systems.

5+ years of experience developing electrical studies and calculations.

5+ years of experience using ETAP as the main software tool.

Excellent understanding of PQ curves for inverter-based technologies.

Excellent understanding of IEEE standards as it relates to grounding, arc-flash, insulation coordination, harmonics, etc.

Proficient in reading electrical single lines and familiarity with HV equipment such as Main power Transformer, circuit breakers, etc.

Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions among HV EPCs, Power Utilities, and internal stakeholders.

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
Desired Skills and Experience

Experience using PSS/E, PSCAD, or PowerWorld.

Experience in ASPEN for short circuit studies.

Project Management experience handling consultants and EPCs.

Experience on Protection & Controls.

Experience on SCADA controls and architecture.
