INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN

Job Accountabilities

The Industrial Electrician position will support the daily production activities at our 3 piece can manufacturing operation. The position will interact closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process from the raw material to the finished product. This is a hands-on position that may be required to cover a variety of duties and responsibilities in this continuous operation. Troubleshooting issues with existing equipment is an essential part of keeping the manufacturing line productive.

 

The Industrial Electrician duties include but are not limited to:

 

Install, diagnose and repair electrical controls, systems, apparatus, and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment.

 

Using thorough knowledge of motor controls, VFD’s, DC drives, Eddy Current Systems and/or Modicon/Allen Bradley system design, diagnoses, troubleshoots and repairs issues to support production line.

 

Maintains and updates records of repairs, calibrations, and tests. Use computer to store and retrieve records.

 

Tests electronic components and circuits to locate defects. Replaces defective components and wiring and adjusts mechanical parts. Aligns, adjusts and calibrates equipment according to specifications. Calibrates testing instruments.

 

Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other team members, to diagnose malfunction.

 

Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors and positions sensing devices.

 

Maintains and troubleshoots camera systems.

 

Uses hands on experience in designing, modifying, installing, commissioning and documentation of industrial conveyance control systems and sub-systems.

 

Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.

 

Installs power wiring and conduit.

 

Keeps work area clean and hazard free

 

Ensure that all safety equipment, devices and guards are properly used and in place at all times.

 

Follows approved, safe working procedures including Lock Out Tag Out, etc.

 

Job Requirements

Thorough knowledge of Allen Bradley/Modicon/Omrom/Siemens Direct Logic PLC’s are required. Also required are the following:

 

High school graduate or equivalent.

 

Associates/technical degree is preferred.

 

3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

 

Must have a set of their own basic tools.

 

Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems.

 

Ability to read and understand procedures in English.

 

Knowledge of single and 3-phase up to 600 volts.

 

Must be able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints, electrical schematics and parts specifications.

 

Knowledge of ACAD would be an asset.
