Systems Product Engineer

The Systems Product Engineer must have the ability to excel in a high-energy, small focused team environment, drive solutions from rough requirements, and have a commitment to high product quality. This position requires a quick learner and demonstrated ability to work in a cross functional and remote from Cadence environment. A strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required, as is the ability to make work fun and interesting. In this key role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that the Cadence product manufacturing meets the company’s demanding mission critical reliability and quality expectations.

Position reports to:            Systems Product Engineering

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Support FRU level build and testing at contract manufacturing (CM) sites
  • Support Rack level build and testing at CM sites
  • Install HW/SW updates on test cells to support FRU testing.
  • Assist as needed in bone-pile debug, providing back-up and support to CM.
  • Assist as needed in RMA backlog debug, providing back-up and support to CM.
  • Qualify products using replacement parts for EOL components.
  • Perform PM’s on test cells and oversee PM’s on spares rack-test-system
  • Responsible for overseeing site 1st pass and final yield for FRUs and Racks and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support compliance testing to completion.
  • Drive completion of all procedures and process documents for assembling and testing all next generation Cadence products at all CM’s.
  • Provide complete scope of analysis and solutions to problems, not just complete tasks.
  • Interface with Cadence PE and TE team.

Minimum Requirements

  • New College Grad, up to 2 years working in the areas of Systems Product Engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and test flows.
  • Computer skills to include: MS Word, Excel, Access & generic CAD.
  • Able to read and work from schematics and device data sheets

Optional capabilities

  • Previous experience on products with PCIe and SERDES circuits.
  • Previous experience with high density Optical manufacturing processes including installing, cleaning, repairing and testing.
  • Previous experience with high density press-fit backplanes.
  • Previous experience with test cell development and support.
  • Previous experience with products using electrical, power, optical and liquid cooling backplanes.
  • Experience on system level products from prototype through manufacturing release.
  • Experience with complex, multi-level BOMs.
  • Independent, hard-working, creative, focused organized, ability to work within a start-up team on multiple projects concurrently.

Highly Desirable Knowledge/Experience:

  • Comfortable with Linux environment: admin level tools, and software development tools, scripts.
