Senior Paralegal — Goverment and Trade Compliance

You’ll be a key member of a team ensuring Cadence conducts business globally in accordance with the highest standards.  In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting cross-functional teams; liaising with our business and operational teams; reconciling and harmonizing trade issues; and helping shape policies and processes to help us scale and enhance our compliance program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Management of diligence reviews for end uses/end users, along with prohibited and restricted party screenings
  • Liaison on screening issues to ensure continuous improvement of performance with periodic audits of screening results
  • Perform research and conduct diligence on processes and parties
  • Expert on screening systems – manages settings and algorithms to common standards across platforms
  • Own, manage and continually enhance standard work and desk procedures for screening
  • Actively and proactively manage relationships with compliance providers to ensure system optimization
  • Business requirements lead for screening systems solutions to ensure change management success
  • Coordinating with company screening leads to ensure harmonization of efforts
  • Ensure compliance with documentation and recordkeeping requirements
  • Compile, submit, and track required government filings, notifications, updates or other forms of submissions
  • Produce high-quality deliverables efficiently, following Cadence’s best practices, templates and guidelines
  • Apply sound judgment and comply with Cadence policies on handling sensitive and confidential data

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance or controls in a cross-functional team environment to develop and drive processes that enhance compliance
  • Demonstrated success independently managing workload and priorities with limited oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively troubleshoot issues and exercise discretion and engage management support to resolve an issue
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with trade compliance issues
  • Paralegal Certification
  • Trade Compliance Certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft products – an Excel guru; Power Point wiz and efficient with Teams
  • Experience working with a geographically dispersed team
  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese a plus.
