Lead AWS Cloud Engineer

B3 Group Inc. is seeking a technology leader who is passionate about their craft and ready for a Lead AWS Cloud Engineer (ACE) position. This role will drive innovation through modern technologies and processes. The ideal candidate has established experience with AWS cloud technologies and services; tool-agnostic and fluent in DevSecOps practices such as the implementation of Software Factories, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), security as a service, build/release management, automated CI/CD pipelines, and general automation. As the Lead AWS Cloud Engineer, you will introduce and/or mature existing SAFe DevSecOps processes across our clients Product Line (PL) from an enterprise level down to the Product. You will guide the creation and adoption of Agile Enterprise Architecture (AEA) throughout the PL. This role will also help to design, implement, and support cloud solutions and processes, while also maturing and migrating legacy products architecture and PLM. You will be a DevSecOps mentor and coach to both the PL staff and will be the senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AEA and DevSecOps implementation. Your skills are broad – driving the execution and enhancement of cybersecurity throughout information systems solutions in cloud-hosted environments; implementing cloud solutions for various application architectures, scripting, database, and other data services and you easily transition between those and handle multiple projects and priorities.

The ACE role requires complex thinking and strategizing to ascertain which legacy systems can be updated, what software or hardware can be replaced, and which services or products will support business operations across each department. The ACE works with technical and non-technical clients and across the organization, determining the needs of a range of business units and processes, and then recommending the best Software as a Service (SaaS)/Platform as a Service (PaaS) to provide the required capabilities. It is a role that requires strong communication and analytical skills to ensure that business units have the right tools to be successful. The ACE role works in the Professional Services organization. The role involves close integration with various client-service leaders, technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive widespread Agile, DevSecOps, and AEA adoption and maturation. The position will drive the execution and enhancement of Agile DevSecOps throughout information systems solutions in cloud-hosted environments.

A B3 Sr. Technical SME is a highly experienced subject matter specialist in their respective technology. The Sr. Technical SME has vast experience in coordinating with program and project leaders to analyze technologies being utilized on the projects. Can thoroughly identify strategies for addressing requirements, risks, and issues. Can conduct detailed trade-off analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance issues. Can quickly resolve issues and creative vision. The Sr. Technical SME will have a vast knowledge of IT systems involving end-user as well as enterprise-level networks. Experience in designing and implementing systems that meet agency policy and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help to build Agile Strategy and Practice to integrate DevSecOps and AEA into the client’s organizational adoption, maturation, and improvement of existing agile practices.
  • Partner with Solution Engineering and Reliability Engineering team leads to create, implement, and apply DevSecOps principles, processes, and culture that are consumed by delivery teams across the organization.
  • Advocate appropriate cybersecurity software engineering practices such as unit testing, code reviews, full build testing, quality engineering practices, and requirements capturing techniques to the teams to improve end to end secure delivery practices.
  • Advocate for and ensure appropriate security practices are communicated and implemented within their application security programs. Support adherence and awareness of these practices.
  • Partner with development and operations teams to facilitate practical automation solutions and custom modules. Troubleshoot automation issues and when required, engage the resources to find practical solutions that move projects forward in a timely manner.
  • Be a trusted automation and tooling advisor for DevSecOps initiatives by providing objective, practical, and relevant ideas, insights, and advice.
  • Assist application teams with onboarding to the adopted security tools/technologies; working with vendors to troubleshoot the platform and issues related to such integrations.
  • Deliver tasks based on project objectives; technically support projects through to completion.
  • Ensure deliverables are completed within target timeframes and are consistently of high-quality, documented, and support transition of operational activities.
  • Collect and format the data required for established KPIs to ensure performance is measured against expected business outcomes.
  • Work with teams to bring continuous improvement to DevSecOps processes and tools.

In addition, the ACE will be expected to:

  • Engineer and implement architectures and solutions while also provide recommendations for continuous improvement for the services provided.
  • Present regular status updates and provides cross-training to other DevSecOps team members.
  • Be active in evaluating and recommending new technologies and processes as they are released.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree: degree in business administration, a technology-related field, or equivalent education-related experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of enterprise application experience with interpreted and compiled programming languages.
  • One or more of the following certifications in good standing: Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solutions Architect (Professional); DevOps Engineer (Professional)
  • Senior-level working knowledge of Agile and leadership experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate strategic information security topics, policies, and standards as well as risk-related concepts to technical and non-technical audiences at various hierarchical levels.

Preferred:

  • Must have actual/active development experience in the SAFe DevSecOps environment.
  • Existing VA experience and a VA issued High/BI clearance.
  • Certified SAFe DevOps Practitioner in good standing.
  • Professional security management certification strongly desirable, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or other similar credentials.
  • Demonstrated competencies in system administration, DevSecOps or systems knowledge, security protocols for client/server environment. Experience working with cloud-based IaaS and PaaS solutions on a windows platform and Open Source/Linux.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration of web services.
  • Sound knowledge of business management and expert knowledge of information/cybersecurity application solution design and testing.
  • Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, COBIT, and NIST, including 800-53 and the Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Senior-level working knowledge of GIT, JIRA, Jenkins, Docker, Puppet, Chef, other Agile CI/CD, and project management tools and Kanban boards.
  • Senior-level working knowledge of GIT, JIRA, Jenkins, Docker, Puppet, Chef, other Agile CI/CD, and project management tools and Kanban boards.
