Finance Business Partner, Technology Transformation

Our UK Tech Transformation team are leading an enterprise-wide transformation to gain competitive advantage through technology (Cloud, DevOps, micro-services) and large-scale adoption of Agile principles and methodologies best practices across the company.

This is an integral role as part of this journey. You will provide financial management, decision support, and insight grounded in excellent management information. This position will work as part of the Tech Finance team, collaborate closely with the wider UK Finance organisation and partner closely with Tech Transformation teams.

 

Some context on the role:

This role provides an excellent opportunity to be a finance partner in a fast-paced environment and to collaborate with an organisation rapidly transforming its business. This position will provide dedicated support to the UK Tech Transformation team in managing all financial aspects of the business. Tech Transformation looks to Finance to play a central role in the formulation of strategy, decision-making and execution against objectives.

This role is involved in the assessment and prioritisation of performance levers and key opportunities, as well as helping the business with reporting, forecasting and assessment of risks and opportunities. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong curiosity to understand the commercial drivers impacting a business, as well as those who have a track record of process improvement.

Here’s what you’ll be tasked with: 

  • Support in the creation of and execution of business cases, liaising with business leaders
  • Build out and management of Earned Value Management analysis across approved business cases, ensuring accuracy and holding busines leaders to account
  • Management and update of an integrated financial model that supports the entire UK Tech Transformation ensuring overall P&L goals can still be met
  • Financial reporting of signed off business cases into Group Finance, Global Results Delivery Office and UK FP&A including articulating the impact on the broader UK P&L
  • Management and execution of ongoing reporting, analytics, insights on performance metrics to benchmark / targets, initiatives and strategies. Drive meaningful actions to optimize results.
  • Provide decision support in commercial matters spanning product development and portfolio management, solution delivery, billing, customer retention and associated operational activities. Challenge business managers, as needed, to drive better decisions.
  • Manage and execute financial plans and forecasts for the cost and capital spend components of the business.  Provide ongoing visibility to performance vs. expectation and support management in identifying and managing risks and opportunities.
  • Manage and execute periodic close responsibilities with central support teams and maintain a strong control environment including balance sheet positions
  • Partner effectively beyond Tech Transformation to support broader finance and business initiatives and meet internal information requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with the global, regional and business unit finance teams, as well as the Financial Service Centre, based in Bulgaria. Act as a coach and role model with the goal of helping people and the business to achieve their collective goals.

Here’s what we’re ideally looking for:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a demonstrable post-qualified experience, showing progressive financial experience across different roles.
  • Solid technical skills in accounting with ability to research and resolve issues as needed.
  • Solid base of commercial acumen and understanding of broader business principles, including strategy. Strong desire to master commercial finance and understand the business from both an internal and external perspective.
  • Strong skills in providing financial decision support on varied projects across the business.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Ability to interact at all levels within the organisation and earn respect universally.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills (written and oral). Ability to convey complex issues in a simple manner.
  • Ability to provide compelling recommendations and influence senior leaders (both finance and non-finance). Confidence to engage in the business discussion and debate – not just the numbers.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and solve problems in a team environment.
  • Strong skills with financial systems and business intelligence tools. Expert level skills in Excel required. Experience with Oracle, Hyperion, and Tableau preferred.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who manages projects end-to-end and has a demonstrated track record of getting results, organising and prioritising deadlines.
  • High degree of integrity and ability to continue to operate under time-pressure and situations of ambiguity
