Lead Architect – Business Information
The Lead Architect position is a senior position for driving the strategic architecture transformation across the Business Information (BI) business unit. The position involves taking responsibility for the current state of a complex, mature and disparate technology landscape and defining and driving a comprehensive architecture modernisation and transformation program.
The role requires an excellent communicator with technical depth to determine an innovative and compelling future estate vision. This must be coupled with a track record in iterative, incremental, risk-mitigated delivery.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure full breadth of the current state architecture is consistently documented, metric-ed and understood including costs, availability, sustainability, compliance and security status.
- Create and maintain a progressive, innovative and compelling future state architecture vision. This must be aligned with appropriate principles, standards, costs and strategy. This must support future strategic plan targets and objectives.
- Develop, drive and iterate the transformation roadmap from current systems towards this future state, within the constraints of the business (funding, customer needs, risks, security)
- Identify opportunities for improvements to Experian global tech direction and advocate effectively for change
- Participate within the global BI community and seek opportunities for contributing direction and sharing technology with other global business units
- Participate in and help to build out the architect community across business units within the UK. Advocate for increased consistency of architecture across this community.
- Frequently engage with all business unit product and delivery teams to communicate direction and to understand and respond to challenges to the architecture and transformation topics.
- Take ownership for architecture input to internal funding documents and review processes
- Work in with the Chief Technical Officer to deliver against and aligned with Experian’s global initiatives and technology modernisation program of work

- Architecture vision and multi-year transformation plan aligned with business unit goals and priorities.
- Vision and plan documented, communicated and understood.
- Significant progress in delivering against the technology transformation vision
- Recognized architecture thought leader and partner within Experian global community
- In collaboration with the CTO, transform the technology architecture and services through modern, flexible and globally aligned architecture.
- Deliver fully compliant products and services in line with the Industry and Regulatory framework.
Key Measures:
- Domain technology progress against roadmap targets
- Number of business domain systems with a clear transformation path
- Number of product innovations enabled by transformed architecture
- Technology cost as a percentage of revenue
Experience and skills:
- Delivery experience in modern agile methodologies and processes for complex distributed high-performance, resilient, scalable, secure, data-centric systems
- Significant technical depth in designing progressive architectures that apply a broad combination of innovative technologies – 10+ years’ experience in similar roles with recent pragmatic experience of designing for cloud-native, microservices, container orchestration, serverless, RESTful API design, token services, key vaults, big data engineering and analytics
- Expertise in continuous delivery and operational excellence with mainstream cloud platforms and technologies, to deliver customer outcomes: AWS, Azure, GCP, EKS, AKS, EMR, Databricks
- Direct experience in driving and supporting architecture modernisation and transformation programs with full support from key stakeholders across the enterprise. Requiring experience in business alignment topics such as ITFM/TBM for cost management, TOGAF or similar, capability modelling approaches, agile maturity metrics
