Finance Manager Sunpower

Position Description:

Sunpower, a business entity within AMETEK’s Advanced Measurement Technology (AMT) business unit, within the Materials Analysis Division of AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group, currently has an opening for a Finance Manager. Sunpower, Inc. designs and develops high reliability cryocoolers and externally heated Stirling Cycle engines used for combined heat and power systems

The Finance Manager, Sunpower will report to the AMT DVP Finance and will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and business plans. The Finance Manager, Sunpower supervises the Senior and Staff Accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner, with future opportunities for supervision of additional personnel as the role evolves and develops. This position manages tight deadlines, competing priorities and a full range of accounting activities including general ledger, financial reporting, year-end and internal audit support, Sarbanes Oxley documentation/compliance, tax compliance, physical inventory counts, fixed assets and support of budget and forecast activities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate financial results and requirements are complete within corporate timelines

• Perform month end closing activities, including AR/AP subledgers, journal entries, GL and intercompany reconciliations and applicable loading into Hyperion (HFM) and Finance SharePoint Portal and 5th / 7th day reporting responsibilities including CapEx and PPE Rollforward

• Coordinate collection of pertinent information required for Corporate reporting requirements supporting accounting, audit, tax and treasury functions

• Prepare thorough analysis of all key general ledger accounts and provide commentary on month to month changes and variances to forecasts.

• Lead the preparation and management of monthly P&L and working capital forecasts

• Reconcile sales and profit performance to forecast, budget, or prior year data

• Interface with outside advisers and auditors related to attestation and compliance matters

• Evaluate accounting policies and procedural control systems and work to improve effectiveness and compliance. This includes monthly SOX testing and upkeep of required documentation in the Corporate SOX database, Internal Audit compliance and Internal and External Audits

• Perform Fixed Asset and Demo reporting, including annual physical audit and review of spending requests for capital expenditures, research and development and major expense projects and provide financial guidance on business unit investments. Provide return on investment analysis to department managers as required.

• Assist in quarterly (MD&A) reporting process with variance schedules as applicable

• Proactive driver of finance continuous improvement initiatives to improve accuracy and efficiency

• Coordinate and lead the budget preparation plan by engaging all levels of BU staff members

• Monitor payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting and cost accounting functions to ensure process controls are efficient and effective.

• Assist DVP in ongoing assessment of the departmental human resource requirements (interview, hire, promote, discipline, discharge) ensuring fairness and consistency is maintained.

• Coach and develop finance staff members on issues relating to people skills, company policy, and good decision-making skills.

• Support DVP Finance and finance team as needed with other duties/projects and additional responsibilities as assigned

• This is a highly hands on role with a focus on detail which requires the ability to work quickly and accurately on an independent basis, giving great attention to detail and displaying the initiative to quickly identify and resolve variances, failures and discrepancies.

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance. CPA or MBA preferred

• Minimum five to seven years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a company with a global presence. Public accounting experience is a plus, but not required.

• Government contract accounting experience preferred, but not required

 

IT EXPERIENCE

Oracle, Sage Fixed Assets (FAS), Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) experience preferred.

 

 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• CPA preferred
