Financial Consultant

How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

The Financial Consultant is a senior technical resource in the department, performing a variety of contract/treaty analysis and systems work.  This position works closely with the administration and accounting teams to ensure the accuracy of data within the systems, and ensuring such systems are performing as intended.  The candidate will work closely with internal and external partners, including IT and external corporate clients. Determines the validity of data and provides supporting explanations for the conclusions reached.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and make appropriate adjustments within the policy administration system
  • Review accounting settlements and accruals, and other activities as required for the financial close process
  • Coordinate and prepare various reporting per treaty and financial requirements
  • Develop and maintain documentation of procedures and metrics tracking
  • Assist with various requests from internal and external customers, including team members, clients and auditors, and prepare and distribute data and documentation as required
  • Conduct/coordinate research and participates in special reinsurance projects
  • Develop business requirements and technical specifications, documents procedures and processes, tests transactions, and assists in system implementations as a team leader/project manager or a subject matter expert on cross-functional IT/business teams
  • Expected to provide cross training and technical guidance to and assist other staff members
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 year experience in related discipline
  • Advanced skills in Excel & Access
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management and project management skills
  • Proven track record in managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change and reprioritize assigned tasks
  • A team player who has the collaborative skills to work within or manage project teams
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of insurance concepts, principles and practices a plus
