Head of Life Product Development

How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

This role is primarily responsible for the design and development of both new Brighthouse life products and the ongoing evolution of existing life products.   Drive the design and development of life product solutions in support of the company’s growth strategy by partnering with leadership across the company to ensure alignment between the company’s strategic objectives. Represent the organization as we seek external partnerships to further drive product distribution.  Develop product solutions in partnership with various leaders to ensure long-term growth and competitiveness of the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive future life product design by developing a deep understanding of customer and advisor needs, industry and retirement trends, risk management and regulatory issues impacting our business.
  • Develop product strategy and roadmap in support of the company’s sales and marketing goals
  • Ensure partnership across the enterprise in the design and development of new life products including the creation of new business development opportunities
  • Ensure consistent and compelling product messaging for our Life Insurance products
  • In partnership with Distribution, Pricing & Underwriting Leadership design and develop competitive life products that meet company financial targets, mortality and morbidity expectations and drive customer and advisor engagement.
  • Works across the Distribution, Client Solutions, Technology, Finance and Legal organizations to develop solutions in line with the organization’s mission and business strategy
  • Be a talent leader by creating an inclusive work environment where employees can thrive
  • Manage department operating budget.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of life products including permanent life products, hybrid LTC and typical riders.
  • Deep understanding of life industry and marketplace including trends and market demands
  • Enthusiasm for the product design and ability to share the vision and impact of the product to our customers and our company
  • Process driven and goal-oriented change management leader with proven ability to find creative solutions to complex problems
  • Capable of effectively prioritizing multiple long-term projects and short-term ad hoc tasks at the same time
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with associates and partners outside of direct chain of command and to drive and influence decisions in these areas.
  • 10+ years of progressing leadership experience focused in developing and designing compelling financial services products
  • Undergraduate degree or other advanced degree preferred
  • Ability to present and effectively communicate with all levels of leadership
