Electrical Maintenance Supervisor

Job Overview and Responsibilities
SUMMARY:
  • Individual accountability for site HSE, Quality, Productivity, and Manufacturing Excellence objectives
  • Ensure all aspects/standards of the Responsible Care Safety Program are met
  • Lead the execution of electrical/instrumentation corrective and preventative maintenance work to achieve site production requirements safely and within budget
  • Work with Maintenance Planners to develop a workable weekly schedule according to work requirements provided by operations and maintenance resource availability
  • Actively engage in the area improvement teams to drive achievement of department objectives and continuous improvement initiatives and lead selected plan objectives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Active daily coaching and leadership of Maintenance Electricians and Instrumentation Technicians
  • Lead electrical team, communicate expectations, monitor performance, and take corrective actions to address issues and ensure:
    • HSE compliance
    • Quality system requirements
    • Asset utilization necessary to meet S&OP plan
    • Maintenance productivity and on-time completion of work orders
  • Own the execution of all corrective and preventative electrical maintenance work
  • Ensure all aspects of Solvay Electrical Safety SPI are continuously followed
  • Ensure all work performed is of quality and meets expectations of the sites requirements
  • Manage the daily and weekly execution of the electrical maintenance schedule, schedule break-in work and communicate changes to all stakeholders
  • Assist Maintenance Planners with electrical job scoping including determining resource requirements, job methodology, job duration, parts and components required, etc.
  • Active management of electrical resource roster, scheduling contractors as required
  • Participate in the development of the work process improvement objectives and area improvement team goals
  • Fill in for mechanical maintenance supervisor as required.
Education and Experience
  • Electrical/ Instrumentation Trade Certification or applicable Post-Secondary Education
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance supervision role
Skills
  • Chemical plant experience is preferred
  • Experience as a leader in a unionized environment preferred
  • Must have demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams
  • Experience with using and working with a CMMS, working knowledge of SAP preferred
  • Excellent communication and skills and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated planning and organization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Previous experience in conflict resolution and performance management.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Based at the Welland Site.
  • Required to regularly work in an office setting.
  • Weekend/Evening work may be required during special circumstances (shutdowns, critical breakdowns).
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
  • Reports to the Maintenance Manager
