What is Risk Data Management team responsible for?
- The role of the Inv Risk Data Management team is to establish ownership and oversight along with a common and centralized view of Investment Risk data to support both the functional and Enterprise level. A Business Data Analyst within the Risk Data Management team will act in an individual contributor role focused on supporting the ongoing maintenance and stewardship of Investment Risk owned data as well as being an integral part in supporting the production issue resolution process. The position will require strong analytical and data management skills and a keen focus toward timely resolution of issues.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of Business Data Analyst?
Supports function of data maintenance and stewardship of Investment Risk owned data, where specific responsibilities include:
- Ensures metadata, reference documentation, and data flows are accurate and up to date
- Monitors data quality workflows and validations targeted toward the delivery of timely, accurate, and complete data to the business
- Manages release controls for assigned data elements
- Ensures assigned data elements are in adherence with enterprise defined data governance standards and best practices
Supports production issue resolution process for Investment Risk owned data and systems, where specific responsibilities include:
- Identifies and reports data quality issues, related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness in a timely fashion and works to resolve those impacting assigned data elements
- Researches data quality issues through detailed analysis, data profiling, and data mining
- Collaborates with business and technology partners to manage and resolve identified data quality issues
- Monitors the production mailbox and responds to issues raised within a 24 hour timeframe
Supports function of project support for data acquisition or new enhancement requests, where specific responsibilities include:
- Acts as the data SME and partners with business SME’s to understand and document data requirements, including data quality and data usage needs
- Captures metadata that is accurate, complete, consistent, and of use to the business
- Participates in testing of data related changes.
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance or Management Information Systems
- Higher education or relevant industry certifications, preferable
- 4 to 6 years relevant work experience in the Asset Management Industry, in particular working in the front office with exposure to investment, trading, Portfolio and risk data
- Data Quality, Data Governance and/or Data Management experience preferred
- Database and SQL (Structured Query Language) experience required
- Knowledge of Data Management applications
- Knowledge of Enterprise data architectures
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Mining applications
- Knowledge of investment management data, in particular performance and risk, trading, and external market data
- Knowledge of Data Management and Data Governance and technology toolsets supporting these areas, such as in the areas of data modeling, data mining, data cleansing, etc.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Intermediate knowledge of database functionality and SQL
- Ability to understand relationship of databases and flow of data throughout the organization
- Ability to understand programming logic driving data extracts and generation of data elements
- Knowledge of Microsoft Visio
- Ability to design and develop data flow diagrams
