In 1998, Bunge set up a trade representative office in China and began to trade agricultural products with Chinese customers. In 2000, Bunge set up an international trading company in Shanghai, China to supply soybeans and other crops to the Chinese market, while also helping Chinese farmers and enterprises export corn and wheat. In 2004, in order to better serve the large number of farmers and enterprises engaged in aquaculture in China, and to better meet the needs of Chinese consumers for edible oil, Bunge began to invest in setting up soybean processing plants. In 2018, Bunge successfully acquired Loders Croklaan, continuing to maintain its leading position in the world as a specialty cooking oil. So far, Bunge China operates six factories, has nearly 1000 employees, and imports about 5 million tons of soybeans and 0.5 million tons of rapeseed each year. Since entering China, Bunge has always combined its global experience with the actual situation, committed to sustainable development, and actively contributed to the development of the local society and the well-being of the people.
