DXC is seeking a VMWare Systems Engineer to provide day to day operational support DXC client’s mission critical on-premise and cloud based VMware services. This role requires sound knowledge of VMware ESXi, vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vRealize Operations Manager, vRealize Automation and VMware Cloud on AWS.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a competent level of technology architecture, design and implementation experience as well as a sound level of networking, windows, linux, scripting and automation in an enterprise or service provider environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related discipline or equivalent job experience.
- VMware Certified Professional and experience with VMware Cloud on AWS.
- Ability to work directly with customers in a professional manner.
Major Responsibilities:
- Review and update VMware environment designs, create implementation plans, audit existing infrastructure
- Develop server images and technology deployment strategies
- Configure VMware virtual networks to support n VLANs in a service provider environment.
- Independently take on tasks within multiple projects simultaneously.
- Design and implement preventative maintenance plans for virtual infrastructure.
- Configure and research various types of alarms and alerts.
- Maintain 100% platform uptime across virtual infrastructure.
- Log all cases and work in DXC’s Service Management platform
- May become involved in systems administration tasks or special projects as required
- Work both remote, on client sites and service provider data centres as required
- Troubleshoot performance problems, investigate alarms as needed, manage escalations
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in systems engineering, VMware, Storage and computing technology.
- Proficient in at least one enterprise OS (Windows or Linux) as well as TCP/IP networking and security.
