About the Role

We are currently seeking a talented and engaging Mental Injury Strategist, the successful candidate is responsible for designing, implementing and leading Xchanging’s mental injury program to improve the capability of Xchanging employees, employers and treating health practitioners to support workers with mental injuries to successfully return to work.

Working in partnership across the organisation, employers and key stakeholders including Worksafe, the successful candidate will apply their advanced experience and qualifications in a mental health background to deliver innovative and effective strategies to achieve optimal outcomes for injured workers and employers.

This is a key role within Xchanging and is responsible for developing and driving the mental injury strategy for the business and ensuring that Xchanging is providing leadership and innovation within the Workers Compensation Scheme. Rather than individual case management, the successful candidate will be able to ultilise their skills, training and stakeholder management skills without the stress of ensuring your hours are “billable”.

To be successful in this role you will have‎:‎

  • The ability to gather information from a range of stakeholders to develop effective case management strategies
  • Experience in preparing and attending claims reviews and clinical case conferences to effectively facilitate outcomes
  • Leadership and team management experience especially coaching and mentoring staff to be performing at their best
  • Well-developed problem solving and decision-making skills
  • High attention to detail

  • Initiative and an innovative approach to managing Mental Injuries.

Required Expertise  

  • Formal qualifications and experience in a relevant Allied Health profession e.g. Psychologist, Rehabilitation Counsellor, Mental Health Nurse, Counsellors and the like.
  • Knowledge of medical and paramedical terminology and procedures, including the forms of treatment applicable to mental injuries
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to change
