Job Summary:
The Production Scheduler is a cross functional role that is key in the planning and execution of production at a manufacturing location. He / She will work closely with plant management, materials planners, and supply network planning to develop and execute an optimal production schedule and inventory control.
- Primary role to provide a timely, complete and achievable production schedule for a manufacturing location utilizing APO- PPDS (Production Planning Detailed Scheduling) Module and approved business processes. Goal is to deliver an optimal production schedule to manufacturing, that meets customer requirements, respects code date and space limitations. Ensures alignment with associated planning activities (MRP, Dairy, SNP)
- Ensures standard business processes followed using APO – PPDS
- Monitor and ensure appropriate master data set-up and continuous monitoring to align with production processes. (ie. for new processes, for process changes) BOMs, Recipes, Resources, Production Versions, DM – Processes, Workstations, Activities
- Ensure continuous (daily) feedback with manufacturing to ensure scheduling information is kept up to date. Including but not limited to; demonstrated running rates, start times, end times, resources, BOMs, Scrap rates, CIP times, material sequence. Prepares and releases the production schedule to the shop floor in a timely manner.
- Act as the local point of contact for the location to connect them to the broader planning community, to support plant activities (manufacturing and warehousing). Acts as the eyes and ears of the planning community, to ensure local issues are addressed.
- Clearly understand all requirements and constraints at the plant level for a production plan (consideration of minimum/maximum batch and run sizes, resource assignment, material sequencing on resources, changeover and startup allowances and material availability. Work with planning operations team to ensure accuracy of functional master data. (BOMs, resources, versions, etc.).
- Daily interaction with Supply Network Planning team to ensure long term horizon of planned orders are accurate, representative of capacity constraints.
- Communicate and execute all needed changes to the production schedule for any various “unplanned events”
- Performs all planning and detailed scheduling in SAP/APO PP/DS module. Ensures the production schedule is effectively communicated throughout the plant and adjustments made real time in APO to ensure alignment across all functions to the expected production plan.
- Other planning duties as required. Depending on the complexity of a location, the production scheduler may perform other related duties to support production plan execution. Ie. MRP, Dairy Planning
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of hands on plant experience in production planning/execution Supply Chain or related experience is required.
- 2+ Years of CPG experience is preferred.
- High School Degree or equivalent required. BA, BS preferred.
- SAP/APO experience is preferred, not required.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
- The employee may be exposed to wet, hot, humid and cold temperatures, moving machinery including forklift traffic, and noise levels exceeding 85dB.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 lbs. unassisted.
- The employee is regularly required to work in an office, warehouse, and production environment.
- Fine manipulation and dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Personal Protective Equipment is required.
- The employee frequently is required to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
