Position Summary
Working in the Finance Controllership team in our St. John’s location, you will become an integral part of a dynamic team. In this role, you will spend the majority of your time recording, analyzing, and reporting on expense related balances for business and management purposes. You will be responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts, Group Benefit accounting and ensuring accuracy of reports for monthly and quarterly reporting.
What you’ll do in the role
- Perform monthly reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts, investigating promptly any discrepancies and working with key stakeholders to determine the appropriate course of action
- Preparation of various journal entries
- Group Benefits accounting
- Providing timely and accurate monthly management reports
- Participation in the completion of Financial Results and monitoring progress to plan
- Providing support during the year-end audits
- Understanding of IFRS and financial services accounting
- Apply Excel knowledge to design worksheets to enhance functionality of reports in order to meet changing reporting requirements
- Maintain appropriate internal controls, documentation, and monitoring in accordance with the financial control framework
- Assist in special projects as required
What you’ll need
- University degree in business, accounting, or finance required
- Minimum 2 years of accounting or finance experience
- Strong reconciliation skills, an aptitude for numbers and detail-oriented
- Advanced MS Excel skills with experience using macros and Pivot table
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to manage deadlines, multiple tasks and adapt well to changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong working relationships
- You are an active team player with excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding customer service skills and the desire to go above and beyond
