Position Title: Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk

Classification: Nonexempt

Reports To: Controller

Summary/Objective

Revision:

The AFS AP Clerk will be responsible for maintaining all accounts payable related activities, including analysis and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts.

Essential Functions

    • Matches invoices, receivers, and purchase orders daily.
    • Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
    • Prepares month end journal entries and performs assigned account reconciliations.
    • Executes necessary reports and processes computerized accounts payable checks.
    • Distributes checks and supporting documentation to authorized personnel for signatures.
    • Processes manual checks, foreign drafts, and wire transfers as needed.
    • Maintains W-9s for all vendors and processes 1099s at year-end.
    • Assist in all required processes related to Finance and Accounting document retention policies and procedure.
    • Works with vendors and various departments to resolve problems and maintain relations.
    • Maintains all accounts payable files.
    • Fosters an environment which promotes AFS’s goals, values and operating models and encourages continuous improvement.
    • Expected to advise the Controller or Finance Director immediately of any errors, irregularities or significant adjustments or journal entries as they occur.
    • Performs other duties as required.
    • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
    • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
    • Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety to self and co-workers.

 

Required Education And Experience

High School Diploma with three (3) years in Accounting or Associate Degree with Accounting emphasis. Two 2) to five (5) years manufacturing AP/ AR experience.

Preferred Education And Experience

    • Experience with JD Edwards
    • Experience in Manufacturing AP/AR
    • Strong skills in Excel

    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
    • Demonstrate good organizational skills and good follow-up techniques
    • Must be able to multitask

 

Supervisory Responsibility

None

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed.
