Aeronautical Data Specialist

We’re seeking full time Aeronautical Data Specialist for our office in Olathe, KS. In this role you will be responsible for the collection, creation and verification of aeronautical and cartographic data. You will also assist in the research, creation and evaluation of maps produced for use in Garmin aviation products. Other essential functions include:

  • Collect, construct, analyze and maintain aeronautical data using custom and 3rd party software
  • Ensure the application of aeronautical and cartographic specifications to the data
  • Evaluate and process cyclical data updates according to established methodology
  • Assist with product generation and compilation procedures
  • Perform routine data entry and verification tasks
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of Garmin aeronautical and cartography products

Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in aviation from a four-year college or university OR instrument rated pilot, Navigator, Air Traffic Controller, Aeronautical Analyst, or Military TERPS Specialists OR 2 years’ experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description OR substantial demonstrated aeronautical knowledge that would allow the Associate to complete the essential functions of the Aeronautical Data Specialist position. . Other required qualifications include:

  • Must possess an understanding of aeronautical navigation, procedures, data, and charts relevant to Garmin’s business needs
  • Proficient computer skills – familiarity with Windows Operating System (OS),  Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional and other PC based office applications.
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
  • The ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced, and challenging technical environment to meet competing and concurrent deadlines
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Periodic over-time may be necessary

Candidates with the following desirable qualifications are highly preferred:

  • Instrument-rated pilot, Navigator, Air Traffic Controller, Aeronautical Analyst, or Military TERPS Specialist
  • Understanding of Instrument Flight Rules, Instrument Procedures, and the National Airspace System
  • Bilingual skills
