The Role
Ambiata is a data science services company that helps its clients build customer understanding, through the use of AI and machine learning and has a vision to expand the use of ethical approaches to AI in Australia. We work with our clients to enhance their ability to use AI safely for better customer outcomes.
Ambiata is a subsidiary company of IAG and works closely with IAG and into the broader market to supply safe AI solutions, covering algorithm development, deployment, and delivery.
The purpose of this role and your unique contribution is to lead the AI engineering team to build ethical AI solutions for our clients – allowing our clients to obtain the best results from AI and machine learning and allowing us to deliver our services effectively. You will do this by shaping our t4echnology approaches through customer conversations, by providing a strong technical voice in development processes to produce high quality, ethically sound and performant solutions, and by leading the engineering team to success.
Key Responsibilities:
As Ambiata’s AI Engineering Manager, your key accountabilities will include:
- Understanding client, product and internal requirements for AI solution build and deployment, and translating those requirements into concrete and efficient execution plans
- Contributing to the strategy, architecture and planning of AI initiatives undertaken by Ambiata for clients, for IAG and for internal use to drive a good return on investment
- Leading the AI Engineering team to deliver with quick time-to-market and optimal deployment resources, including scoping and prioritising activities based on business and customer impact.
- Maintaining high quality standards in engineering practice, especially testing, continuous integration and delivery, and end-user acceptance
- Contributing to the maintenance of high ethical standards in the AI systems that are deployed for use
- Working cross-functionally across the business and our clients, including designers, product managers, data engineers, data scientists, marketing, and business development to deliver valuable solutions
- Creatively contributing to the future vision of Ambiata to drive its growth.
- People Authority – Engineering Team: 4-6 direct reports.
Skills & Experience
- Deep working technical knowledge of the following technologies, applications and practices:
- Experience in data science and machine learning, including the deployment of models into production
- Significant experience and expertise in Python, Kubernetes, and Linux based systems
- Comprehensive understanding of and experience with data systems, including major architectural principals for building solutions from diverse components
- Software development best practices including experience with performance tuning, testing approaches and quality frameworks
- Cloud services, particularly AWS
- CI/CD deployment tools and processes
- Agile software development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including creation of documentation for both technical and management audiences.
