Job Description
The successful candidate will join the Legal, Compliance & Secretariat Department (“LCS”) department in SIA Corporate Planning Division. You will undertake legal and regulatory compliance work for the Singapore Airlines Limited (“SIA”) group of companies, especially anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism (“AML/CFT”) compliance for SIA’s payment service solution, known as Kris+, based in Singapore.
The successful candidate will be either:
(a) a compliance professional specialising in AML/CFT, with a strong legal background; or
(b) a lawyer with AML/CFT experience.
Responsibilities:
(a) AML/CFT Regulatory Compliance Work
(i) Monitor and review activities performed by business units for Kris+, such as due diligence, onboarding of customers, transactions, etc for compliance with the AML/CFT policy and applicable laws;
(ii) Perform deeper compliance reviews, investigations and periodic risk assessments, with business units;
(iii) Advise business units on legal risks and/or compliance implications of business decisions, and offer appropriate solutions, if possible;
(iii) Work with business units to evaluate, implement and monitor internal compliance policies, procedures, controls and/or remediation measures, as may be needed from time to time;
(iv) Prepare compliance reports periodically;
(v) Provide AML/CFT training to relevant employees; and
(vi) Promote and update the AML/CFT compliance programme periodically.
(b) Other Regulatory Compliance Work
Support regulatory compliance work, especially in the areas of personal data protection and sanctions.
(c) Legal Work
(i) Draft, review and negotiate agreements and other legal documentation for commercial transactions;
(ii) Support mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”) transactions; and
(iii) Provide legal advice.
Requirements
The candidate should have:
(a) a law degree from a reputable university in Singapore or a Commonwealth state,
(b) at least three (3) years of legal experience and/or AML/CFT compliance experience gained:
(i) in a reputable law firm or
(ii) in-house at a company holding or applying for a licence under the Payment Services Act of Singapore, and
(c) excellent risk and compliance analytical skills, as well as contract drafting skills.
Experience in the following areas is an added advantage:
(a) personal data protection regulations;
(b) anti-fraud controls;
(c) sanctions compliance; and/or
(d) high-value transactional work, e.g. M&A.
Admission to the Singapore Bar is not required.
The candidate should be able to:
(a) work independently and as a team player, and
(b) communicate with people effectively in a dynamic environment in Singapore Airlines Limited and its unlisted subsidiaries.
