The Get Up is Spotify’s hit new daily morning show – the first of its kind to blend the elements you love about morning drivetime FM-radio with a personalized music playlist. The show team consists of three hosts, a supervising producer, producers, associate producers, and audio engineers. Every weekday, the team works together closely to create segments on news, pop culture, music, and more.
The Job
We’re looking for a creative and self-motivated Audio Engineer/Technical Coordinator to join our remote production team. This person thrives on tight deadlines, collaborative decision making, and has an impeccable attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a background as an Audio Engineer or Technical Director in radio broadcast or live-streamed productions.
This person will partner with the existing Audio Engineer/Technical Coordinators to manage all technical aspects of the show day to day including recording, playback and mixing during live and pre-taped segments. They will also be responsible for troubleshooting all audio systems for hosts, producers and contributors. They have a problem solving attitude and take initiative to proactively anticipate the needs of projects and their fellow teammates.
This is someone who is comfortable working collaboratively with a remote team during early morning hours on a fast-paced show, and is able to multitask and prioritize under time pressure. An interest in news and pop culture is a plus. Candidates will need to provide their own dedicated workspace, capable of housing production equipment for the duration of the production.
This is a full-time, 5-month contract position based in Brooklyn, NY.
What You’ll Do
- Manage all technical aspects of show production for daily podcast.
- Operate and maintain control room recording equipment.
- Support and troubleshoot remote host recording equipment.
- Manage and maintain files and data for the show.
- Uphold and refine production processes and best practices.
- Mix Live and Pre-Taped Segments.
- Monitor and adjust incoming levels from hosts and contributors.
- Apply EQ, Compression and other processing to create a cohesive live sound from multiple sources.
- Trigger music cues, sfx and other audio clips during live production.
- Monitor LUFS mix levels in realtime to ensure loudness specifications are met.
- Source or create SFX and creative elements for the show.
- Deliver and organize final audio assets.
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ Years of experience mixing in a live broadcast or streaming environment (Daily show experience preferred).
- Demonstrable Pro Tools routing, mixing and troubleshooting skills.
- Thorough understanding of recording studio technology, remote recording workflows, recording equipment and IP Codecs including: Dante Controller and Dante Virtual Soundcard; Familiarity with Comrex Access and Comrex Bric Link; and Zoom video conferencing and its recording capabilities.
- Impeccable attention to detail with regard to naming systems and file organization.
- Excellent Mac OS troubleshooting abilities, including Remote Management.
- An existing dedicated work space in your home or office with reliable high-speed internet connection.
