Overview of the Role
The Automation Engineer is responsible for improving, streamlining and automating the manufacturing process while maintaining product quality and adhering to company policy and external regulations. The position requires planning, implementation and monitoring of the automation process at our brand new, state of the art facility in Port Coquitlam. The automation engineer will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and oversee and provide direction to employees in the Maintenance Department.
How you will make contributions that matter:
Collaborate and provide direction to the maintenance team in tasks and projects related to automation
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, testing and commissioning of process automation software and hardware for Port Coquitlam, while adhering to GMP, H&S, and Food Safety Standards
Responsible for prioritizing and executing the automation mandates within a defined schedule and budget
Investigate and analyze issues/problems to provide design improvement recommendations
Troubleshoot and diagnose automation and process control system problems
Monitor utilities and waste for opportunities for improvement through various projects and automation
Provide Training to Maintenance Employees related to Automation.
Maintain up to date records of all the Process PLCs and Programs
You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, with a minimum of 5 years related automation/controls experience preferably in a food manufacturing environment
Must have experience with Allen Bradley PLCs.
Logix Control and Motion Control Certificate will be an asset.
Experience in programming and maintaining servo drives.
Previous management experience within beverage or food processing industry is an asset;
Sound communication, leadership and interpersonal skills;
Strong organizational and analytical skills and a strong team orientation;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
