Avionics Technical Program Manager

Our Aviation Systems and Programs team is looking for an Avionics Technical Programs Engineer to lead technical integration work of our avionics systems with our customers. From conception to development and application of advanced avionics systems, our Aviation Programs Engineers do it all. You must be able to create aircraft specific interface documentation and wiring diagrams as well as create technical product proposals and related documentation. You’ll identify and document technical scope of change, assess system compliance with a select set of customer requirements, ensuring effective customer communication, and generate bench test plan/procedures for select interfaces or functionality and execute these procedures.

Other essential functions for our Aviation Programs Engineer include:

  • May perform bench testing of select interfaces or functionality and provide support for tool definition
  • With some guidance, performs technical market research in support of product definition and/or business development initiatives
  • With some guidance, coordinates technical roadmaps for presentation to OEM customers
  • Create and communicate status updates regarding relevant program progress and issues for internal stakeholders
  • Analyze program requirements and work with internal stakeholders to establish effort estimates
  • Apply a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion
  • May identify and document technical scope of change in support of small changes to already supported functionality or interfaces
  • Provide technical content for system design/description documentation
  • May review customer requirements to assess compliance

Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, or Physics from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 1-year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements include:

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge in one or more of the following technical areas:
      • Systems Integration
      • System Safety
      • System Requirements
  • Demonstrates advanced troubleshooting skills and provides assistance with troubleshooting equipment in the field
  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
  • A pilot’s license and previous Garmin Integrated Flight Deck experience is highly preferred!
