CDI – SGP&C – Cat Risk Analyst

– Key duties and Responsibilities

  • Operational delivery of catastrophe risk pricing of treaty reinsurance for key European markets, using vendor models and/or internally developed tools as per SCOR process and guidelines
  • Monitoring and validation of used capacity using cat tools e.g. RiskLink, Accumulation platform
  • Communicate with underwriters and other internal stakeholders on above
  • Support business as required with appropriate projects on nat cat topics, including capacity planning and / or client deliverables
  • Lead projects to answer underwriter-specific queries on hazard, vulnerability and model behaviour
  • Understand and interrogate vendor models to develop appropriate adjustments for pricing and accumulation to reflect internal view of risk
  • Understand and synthesise new developments from the modelling companies
  • Contribute to development and implementation of consistent process and procedures for pricing, even when no model available, and best practices for modelling in Hub, including tool development
  • Contribute to research related to better understanding of natural perils and other relevant issues, especially meteorology
  • Contribute to global transverse initiatives (Cat Systems, Analytics and Governance, wider Reinsurance or Specialty Insurance units).
  • Renewal support to other Property Cat markets is expected.
  • Participation to seminar and internal training on Cat Modeling

The working environment is geographically and culturally diverse with many multi-disciplinary stakeholders (scientist, engineers, actuaries, underwriters, developers, etc)

 

– Required experience and competencies

Ideal candidate would have up to 10 years’ experience in a reinsurance company, leading broker or similar

  • Strong analytical skills
  • User of catastrophe models, predominantly RMS (Risklink)
  • Knowledge of reinsurance business
  • Knowledge of reinsurance pricing approaches a plus
  • SQL, R programming skills
  • Clear communicator, able to structure an argument and ability to explain complex issues in a simple way
  • Team player, interested in sharing knowledge and helping to develop team
  • Self-starter and solution-orientated
  • Flexible, can adapt according to priorities
  • Expert in Meteorology or climate change a plus

 

– Required education 

Masters or PhD in Science or Engineering associated with Cat Modeling (Natural Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Actuarial Science).
