Ceramics Operator

General Function:

It is every employee’s responsibility to improve processes to reduce set-up and run-time standards. This shall be a performance measure during all employee evaluations.  It is every BPM, Inc. Employee’s responsibility to be aware of and work with Belvac’s current documented Quality Management System as it pertains to their job requirements.  All employees performing a work sequence on any order are required to physically move and transact the material to the next sequence once their task has been completed. All employees utilizing dispatch sheets shall run jobs in date sequence without exception, unless directed otherwise by cognizant Manager and/or Production Control Planners.

Primary Responsibilities – Ceramic Operator

  • Fill out documentation for ceramic processing records and Belvac quality policies.
  • Follow instructions either verbally or written.
  • Accurately measure using equipment such as; dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, and scales.
  • Communicates well with others.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, following 5S principles.  Audit and drive actions to improve overall score.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records by accurately weighing and recording raw materials for both powder and part production usage.
  • Precisely measure raw materials, document key information, and follow defined processes to achieve desired results
  • Maintain tooling and supplies in an organized manner.
  • Know details of mold fill and mold empty process for each job assigned.
  • Operation of cold isostatic presses (CIPs).
  • Recognize equipment problems and report them to a supervisor.
  • Operate basic green machining equipment.
  • Identify proper refractories for use in kiln operations.
  • Use lifting devices, including material lifts, man-lift, and fork-lift.
  • Perform density determinations using precision buoyancy test.
  • Utilize computer to track and report operations completed and for labor reporting.
  • Actively participate and lead as required during OIL boards meetings, actively submit new ideas monthly, and facilitate the completion of specific actions assigned.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement (CI) activities to improve quality, improve productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall costs by utilizing lean tools to facilitate the improvements.
  • Complete tasks in support of product quality and on-time delivery, as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • It is the responsibility of all employees to follow proper lifting techniques and seek help or utilize mechanical lifting aids as appropriate to avoid potential injury.
  • Extended periods of time standing.
  • Follow established Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Must be able to bend and kneel freely.
  • Good eye sight.
  • Operate Fork trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Must be able to comfortably lift 25Kg.
  • Must be able to wear proper PPE as needed for the specific tasks assigned.

Education:     High School Graduate or Equivalent Certificate
