Clerk – Security Lost & Found

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Clerk – Security Lost & Found is to handle property wide lost and found items for The Venetian Resort.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process information according to established guidelines or procedures.
  • Compile data and prepare reports or summarize results.
  • Engage in mathematical calculations to determine actions to be taken or records to be affected. Classify, store, retrieve, and update information.
  • Examine incoming material and code it numerically, alphabetically, by subject matter, or other specified system.
  • Search for and investigate information contained in files.
  • Adds additional data to file records, complete reports, keep files current, and supply information from file data or electronic data files.
  • File hard copy or maintain electronic record of correspondence, cards, invoices, receipts, and other information; and/or records in alphabetical or numerical order, or according to subject matter or other system.
  • Classify material when classification is not readily discernible.
  • Dispose of obsolete files in accordance with established retirement schedule or legal requirements.
  • May involve data entry, word processing, sorting mail, and operating copy or fax machines. May copy records on photocopying or microfilming machines.
  • May generate labels or reports. May make calculations to keep files current. May be designated according to material filed.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Daily completion and review of Lost Inquiry Reports.
  • Handle daily mail relative to Venetian Casino Resort lost and found program.
  • Daily monitoring of items turned in to lost and found to assure that information on the ticket is complete and legible.
  • Daily input of lost and found information into computer database.
  • Place and answer telephone calls regarding recovery of lost and found items.
  • Responsible for release of lost and found items to owner with proper identification or to finder after the appropriate duration.
  • Responsible for completion of appropriate paperwork/logs and accountability after release of article.
  • Research, packaging and mailing of lost and found articles to owner.
  • Monthly disposition of all lost and found articles not claimed by owner or finder.
  • Coordinates pick up of unclaimed articles by charitable organization.
  • Generates monthly accountability report to administrative manager.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Able to maintain positive interpersonal relationships. Proper telephone etiquette.
  • Familiarization with Microsoft Word and Excel software program. Ability to formulate reports.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks. Appropriate usage of grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
