UK Compliance Officer

About the role:
As the Compliance Officer you will take ownership for providing UK compliance oversight, including the maintenance and communication of regulatory policies and procedures and performance of monitoring activities to ensure adherence to the relevant regulations. As a Compliance Officer, you will also manage the relationship with the UK regulators.
A key focus of yours will be UK compliance, however the role will include international compliance monitoring activities within Europe. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Compliance, Europe.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the accountable compliance officer for the UK Third Country branch activities with responsibility for regulatory and advisory compliance.
- Ensure compliance of the branch with UK laws and regulations.
- Promote a strong compliance culture through robust check and challenge processes and compliance advice to the business.
- Identify and access compliance risks associated with the branches current and proposed future business activities, including new products and new business relationships.
- Conduct an annual Compliance Risk Assessment in partnership with the Head of Compliance and business.
- Prepare and maintain a risk-based annual compliance monitoring program designed to prevent, detect and address non-compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and standards.
- Maintain open and constructive on-going relationships with the PRA and FCA regulatory authorities and ensure timely and accurate completion of regulatory returns.
- Monitor and track regulatory developments, access impact on the business and advise the business accordingly.
- Monitor the progress of regulatory implementation/changes.
- Identify and implement appropriate policy and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations.
- Monitor policies and standards, using a risk-based approach, and report to the Head of Compliance and Senior Management.
- Manage on-going compliance reviews and present results to Head of Compliance and Senior Management.
- Develop and deliver compliance training to the business to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory standards in force.
- Contribute to the Compliance Plan annually.
- Coordinate the annual review of policies for Board and Committee approval.
- Implement and control measures for complying with sanctions and restrictions set by government authorities.
- Work closely with business entities to establish, maintain and continuously monitor compliance risks.
- Monitor the compliance plan/program outcome and provide a monthly summary to the Head of Compliance on its progress.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in compliance in insurance sector.
- Experience in managing compliance for both corporate and consumer sectors.
- International experience would be advantageous.
- Experience in dealing with regulators.
- Sound understanding of the UK regulatory landscape.
- Experience in compliance risk modelling and compliance monitoring programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- International experience would be advantageous
- Experience in International Private Medical Insurance (‘’IPMI’’) or health insurance market an advantage.
- Bilingual language capabilities would be useful – Dutch, French, German (beneficial)
