Data Strategy Lead

At Pizza Hut, we use data to make decisions on how we approach our end-user – our customers, our team members, and our franchise partners.

Reporting directly to the Director of Data and Analytics, you will lead and expand a product team focused on garnering user data to drive business and product decisions.

You will partner with a talented team of data engineers and analysts to ensure a stable and compliant base for data and develop a single source of truth to aid in guiding the strategy for each of our business initiatives. You will partner cross-functionally with product leaders to ensure we are making decisions based on data and insight.

This role provides the unique opportunity to shape the future direction of data strategy, architecture and tooling within a Fortune-500 company.

Job Duties

As Data Strategy Lead, you will:

• Partner with and influence key Pizza Hut stakeholders and partners to identify opportunities to leverage company and external data to drive business outcomes
• Lead Data as a Product team – lead Product Owner to ensure data is being harnessed across the Pizza Hut organization
• Mentor team of skilled Data Analysts, Engineers and Product Owners
• Define and drive overall strategy for Data as a Product team
• Provide informed thought leadership and partnership on data strategy, data management, and data analytics and architecture to set best practices and improve the maturity of Pizza Hut’s data capabilities
• Leverage work from our leading markets and earn from partners and industry leaders to ensure we are fully leveraging our data into insights and profitability
• Define the roadmap for the platform to meet the business needs
• Clearly and concisely present information or status of initiatives
• Participate in planning and strategy sessions
• Champion successes to all parts of the organization, including executive sponsors, in formal and informal settings

Skills and Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience working in technical teams and delivering outcomes.
• 5+ years of experience working in data science or advanced analytics
• 3+ years of experience leading, coaching, and mentoring direct reports.
• Familiar with “Well-architected” frameworks and understands how to incorporate best practices into technical solutions.
• Background in contributing toward the technical success of large-scale data-related projects (e.g. data migrations)
• Strong communicator, capable of bridging a gap between technical teams and executive stakeholders and presenting complex concepts concisely
• Experience with strategic planning and budget management
• Experience with Product interaction and Product Model methodology
• Working knowledge of agile development
• Experience scoping and delivering data products to support business and analytics stakeholders
• Experience with cloud SDKs and programmatic access services
• Proficiency in a relevant data/development language for cloud platforms (e.g., R, Python, Java, SQL and C#/Unix)

In December 2018, Pizza Hut acquired QuikOrder, a leading online ordering software and service provider for the restaurant industry, in order to improve Pizza Hut’s ability to deliver an easy and personalized online ordering experience and accelerate digital innovation across 6,000+ restaurants in the U.S.

Combined with Pizza Hut’s already existing powerhouse technology team, Pizza Hut Connect officially launched in August, 2019. This new entity is now home to all Pizza Hut U.S. technology talent and capability, spanning eCommerce, Restaurant Technology, Delivery Technology, Data & Analytics Technology. The formation of Pizza Hut Connect underscores the important role technology will continue to play in Pizza Hut’s future growth, as well as our intentional focus on investing in technology talent and capabilities.
