Job Summary
This position will be responsible for handling direct MGA (Managing General Agent) and Personal lines insurance accounts for a Property and Casualty Insurance company. The candidate must have a strong background in accounting and data processing for a Personal Lines insurer or agent with a broad knowledge in statutory data reporting, state-level solvency filings, statistical data calls, and states’ Departments of Motor Vehicles VIN# reporting. This position will interact with senior management, corporate, underwriting, MGA personnel and external regulators. Therefore, candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to manage and ensure accuracy of large volumes of data is required. They must be able to manage multiple tasks to adhere to stringent timelines and comply with reporting requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure accurate and timely entry of accounts into the company’s proprietary database system. Validate entries including estimates and accruals.
2. Enter cash and apply to balances for the premium trust and TPA accounts.
3. Reconcile taxes collected with taxes settled by SCOR on behalf of insureds.
4. Collating information at the granular level for consolidation with other direct business for statutory reporting. Compliance with all data calls, state-level solvency filings, statistical data calls, DMV VIN# reporting.
5. Assist in ad-hoc requests pertaining to the quarter close process
6. Organize and maintain comprehensive files which will support all audits
7. Technical variance analysis
8. Adhere to timelines set in closing calendars
Required experience & competencies
Experience:
Over 4 years in direct MGA and Personal Lines financial accounting/statutory reporting with an insurance company. Practical experience and knowledge in regulatory insurance reporting.
Advanced skills in MS Excel, plus proficiency in MS Word and Access (Win 10 Environment).
Excellent analytical skills.
Personal Competences:
Able to work independently on assigned tasks, with little supervision.
Self-motivated, takes initiative.
Solid communication skills.
Ability to work overtime when necessary.
Required Education
High School graduate. Some College preferred. ARe, CPCU courses, CPA or other industry certificates and courses a plus.
