Overview
HD Biosciences seeks an experienced individual to direct the activities of a new anti-pathogen therapies group. The incumbent will lead a team of 5 to 10 professionals, with the mission of evaluating and developing antiviral and antibacterial novel therapeutic drugs. This key position will report directly to the VP of Immuno-oncology.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of scientists within the Immuno-oncology Department
- Develop animal models for the evaluation of anti-pathogen therapies
- Responsible for the evaluation of various drug treatments in rodents PK/PD, anti-infectious efficacy studies
- Schedule studies, review protocols, data and reports
- Establishes scientific standards and new initiatives
- Write and review SOPs
- Provides scientific leadership by proactively advising, sharing knowledge and expert opinions across functions and with senior management
- Anticipates scientific barriers, and proactively develops strategies to ensure successful drug evaluation
- Applies his/her experience and expertise of preclinical development of new cancer drugs to guide study design
- Participates in drafting quotations
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution and communication of research results with high quality standards
- Interfaces with pharma partners, academic collaborators, and partner CROs
- Provides operational support for Immuno-oncology Department
- Can work in a team environment and independently as required
- Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals
- Responsible for the daily management of supervisory and non-supervisory staff to include: hiring, training, mentoring, managing performance, ensuring department and company policy compliance, and time management
- Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maybe required to work Holidays and weekends
- May be required to assist in other departments

Qualifications
Experience
/ Education
- PhD with training in virology/bacteriology/Immunology or highly related field and at least 10 years of related academic or industry work experience.
- 5 years of experience in managing scientists and technicians and leading team research activities
- AALAC certification and/or prior experience with IACUC standards is highly desirable
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Listens and understands other points of view; ability to effectively articulate vision and persuade key stakeholders across the organization
- Ability to be able to read, write and understand English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel for business as required

- Must be able to work in lab setting with exposure to animals/biohazards/ chemicals
- Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility
