Job Overview and Responsibilities
SUMMARY:
• Individual accountability for site HSE, Quality, Productivity, and Manufacturing Excellence objectives
• Ensure all aspects/standards of the Responsible Care Safety Program are met
• Performs varied maintenance and repair work of high grade in any location to keep electrical and instrumentation equipment in good condition
• Work requires familiarity with the purpose, construction and assembly of instrumentation and electrical systems and generally includes such duties as installing, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting and overhauling the plants instrumentation and electrical equipment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Continuously follow Solvay’s Life Saving Rules, Site SSPI’s and Electrical safety program during day to day work assignments.
• Interprets work orders (including drawings, sketches, or other instructions) regarding scheduled and emergency repairs, changes, installations and inspection work to be done.
• Installs, maintains, repairs and calibrates instruments for measuring and controlling process flow, level, pH, pressure, weight, gas composition, etc. based on electronic, electrical, conduit metric, pneumatic or mechanical principles.
• Installation, repair and troubleshooting of electrical equipment such as rotating equipment motors, MCC’s, and VFD’s.
• Installation, troubleshooting and repair/overhaul of various types of actuated control valves.
• Routine maintenance and troubleshooting of sites high voltage systems including sub-station maintenance and plant power supply switchover procedures.
• Plans details and sequence of working procedures and material procurement to affect the best approach to the job.
• Knows and supports the corporate quality policy, Welland Plant practices, procedures and regulations as they affect this trade such as layout, materials, equipment, operations, safety, housekeeping and preventative maintenance programs.
Education and Experience
• Knowledge of and ability to use all tools and equipment pertinent to the trade
• Must be a certified Journeyman Electrician/Instrumentation Technician
Skills
• Extensive knowledge of electrical/instrumentation equipment maintenance and repair
• Knowledge of repair/overhaul methodology for various types of control valves
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and complete calibration paperwork neatly and accurately
• Ability to interpret loop and electrical drawings (including site Single Line Diagram)
• Ability to troubleshoot high voltage electrical systems with complex arrangements
• Knowledge and understanding of multiple process control instrumentation designs and appropriate applications
