Elevator Operator II

Summary:

Responsible for performing all operations functions relating to the Elevator, Control Room, weighing/grading, housekeeping and rail loading activities. Employee may also be responsible to assist in performing routine maintenance of equipment. This position is expected to learn all areas of the loading, unloading and transferring of grain and grain products for truck and rail and help train others as needed.
Work under minimal supervision and assist less experienced peers. Skilled in maintenance, equipment operations, safety programs and grains. Proactive and willing to lead.

Responsibilities:

Proficient operating basic equipment (mower, tractor, etc.). Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of loaders, lifts and other equipment.
Performs bin treatments, grain binning and conveyor operations.
Established working knowledge of grain receiving. Ability to understand the basics of Weighing & Grading, Sampling and testing. Ability to understand and help with rail, trucking and maintenance operations.
Perform all tasks in a safe manner
Actively participate in safety programs and inspections
Responsible for control room duties, which include continuous monitoring of equipment, processes via computer monitored programs.
Operate equipment and processes safely and efficiently
Perform all tasks relating to receiving and blending of grain
Properly document equipment logs and records as needed to maintain plant equipment.
Work outdoors in the elevator-loading/unloading trucks and rail cars
Work as a team member, motivating others to function as a team
Communicate with supervisor, maintaining an open relationship
Immediately notify supervisor of any irregularities.
Maintain a high level of customer service
Perform routine maintenance tasks
Responsible for performing routine housekeeping
Operate mobile equipment and properly utilize miscellaneous hand tools
Perform all other assigned duties as required and/or instructed by supervisor
Perform weighing and grading of all commodities and input customer information into OneWeigh software

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or its equivalency is required
2-5 years’ experience working in grain elevator is preferred
2-5 years’ experience working with rail loading is preferred
Ability to work safely is required
Good communication skills, reading and writing required
Basic math skills required, ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages, read graphs
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Experience with computers for data entry, email, and word processing programs is required
Ability to work cooperatively with others required.
Welding and light fabrication preferred.
General knowledge of rotating and conveyance equipment preferred.
Agricultural experience preferred.

Schedule

Standard but flexible due to nature of facility needs with overtime required during peak business periods
