The Role
Firemark is IAG’s internal and external business incubator. Firemark consists of a Futures function, a Ventures function and a Labs function. The purpose of the role and your unique value add is to lead the Firemark Innovation Lab function across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). The lab incubates and accelerates new value creation within, and beyond, our core insurance businesses. You will lead the Product Management, Design, Engineering and Data Science, and Commercial disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the overall Innovation & Ventures (i.e. Firemark) vision and strategy by representing the Labs function. Proactively contribute to, build, and model the One Firemark culture that we want to create across teams and geographies
- Set the strategy for the ANZ Labs function. Translate into tactical plans for successful delivery. Identify and input strategic opportunities into the Innovation and Venturing pipeline for evaluation and prioritisation
- Actively contribute to the Firemark portfolio planning and Innovation theme prioritisation process led by the Futures team
- Lead the ANZ labs portfolio execution roadmap and delivery programme including building the Innovation & Venturing experimental platform environment. Work closely with Firemark Ventures and Firemark Labs Singapore to allocate and deliver prioritised Venture leverage work into the business
- Partner with Firemark Labs Singapore manager to effectively manage our people resources as talent pools and efficiently allocate them across prioritised portfolio initiatives (including investigations, experiments, incubations, etc.). Implement the Innovation & Venturing ways of working, specifically workforce planning and resource allocation. Ensure outcome based deliverables are created, monitored, and reported into the overall overall Firemark operating framework
- Manage portfolio initiatives to identify and accelerate value creation for IAG. Utilise human centred design, lean and agile principles to validate product market fit. Effectively transition incubations to the business for scale
- Lead the cross group strategy that connects our platform to key assets across the company (e.g. Customer Loyalty Platform, Accelerator Cloud Platform)
- Co-create the next generation Firemark accelerate programme (Season 3) to ensure it is a market leading programme across geographies attracting top start-ups to participate.
- Contribute to ANZ’s growing InsurTech community, actively helping to shape the future of insurance, risk management and ancillary services to help feed the Firemark accelerate programme and identify Firemark Ventures investment opportunities
- Contribute to team wide communications strategy to provide ongoing visibility of Firemark activity and impact across IAG stakeholders
Skills & Experience
- 15+ years product management, consulting, or general management experience with a proven track record in driving innovation and/or shipping new products/services
- Strong leadership and storytelling skills with a proven ability to inspire and motivate. Strong executive engagement and communication skills
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing a multi-million dollar budget and large cross-functional teams. Data driven approach to experimentation and decision making. MBA preferred
- Experience in fostering a customer-centric culture and track record of delivering outcomes at paced aligned with human centred design, lean, and agile ways of working.
- Demonstrated ability to define, plan, and shape strategies and initiatives into tactical plans for successful delivery
- Demonstrated resilience in leading through complexity, ambiguity and responding to change.
- Deep experience in building internal and external partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared goals
